Body of man who fell off paddleboard recovered from N.J. lake

The body of 61-year-old man missing for two days after he fell off a paddleboard at a Sussex County lake was recovered Sunday, authorities said.

James Lee, of Sandyston, was reported missing at 6:44 p.m. Friday after he fell off the board on Kittatinny Lake near East Shore Trail in the township, according to New Jersey State Police.

A preliminary investigation showed Lee “had fallen into the water while on a standup paddleboard and did not reemerge,” State Police said in an email.

First responders searched the lake Friday, before calling it off in the evening and resuming on Saturday morning. Lee’s body was found Sunday morning, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a State Police spokesman.
