Ex-NFL player shames Matthew Stafford’s wife for giving ‘the cakes up to a backup’

Maybe Kelly Stafford should have kept her cheating ways to herself.

This, after being called out and made fun of for two-timing her now husband, Matt Stafford, to get the Super Bowl-winning quarterback to commit to her.

Here’s how ex-NFL linebacker Channing Crowder answered host Ryan Clark when asked his thoughts on the salacious topic during the Pivot podcast on Monday:

“Listen, Mrs. Stafford: What’s the point of telling that story at this (juncture)? Y’all are married with kids. It just makes Matt look bad. Don’t say things that make your spouse look bad,” said Crowder, whose cohosts couldn’t stop laughing. “And there are things I have said and stories I told ... where I had to go home and Aja was like, ‘Damn, you didn’t run that by me first.’ But, I don’t even think that’s anywhere close to what she’s talking about, going and giving the cakes up to a backup to make you jealous. And now you come back around.

“So, you done knocked it down and your buddy done knocked it down, and you done came back around and jumped in the car. Man, that was unacceptable for me.”

Crowders’s take is misogynistic, but some would say accurate, considering Matt was the victim of the story, while Kelly put a bright red target on her back.

Kelly self-admittedly two-timed her college sweetheart during an early stage of their relationship. And not with some random guy, either.

“At first, I hated him,” Kelly said during her appearance on Touchdowns and Tumors on June 11. “I loved him (actually). I dated the backup (quarterback at UGA) to piss him off, which worked. He was the bad boy, too. Like, Matthew’s so sweet and Southern gentleman and all that stuff and the backup was the complete opposite. It upset him which it worked thankfully.”

Luckily for Matt, he still made it to the NFL and has had a borderline Hall of Fame career, while Kelly got her man in the end. But, Kelly, clearly, played with fire and was lucky to not get burned.

A two-time Pro Bowler and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2011, Stafford was traded to the Rams on March 18, 2021, in a deal that included Jared Goff and two first-round picks. He led them to a Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals less than one year later.

Kelly, whom Matt married in 2015 and has four daughters with, could be seen by Matt’s side after the game celebrating her husband’s win.
