Queens of the Stone Age is canceling the rest of their July tour dates because frontman Josh Homme needs to undergo emergency surgery.
The band shared a statement on social media confirming the cancelation and Homme’s surgery.
“QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery,” the statement read. “Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”
The statement advised fans who purchased tickets for those designated dates to hold on to them and expect to be contacted directly from the point of purchase with further information.
The reason for the emergency surgery was not specified though Homme has had some health ailments in the past including a cancer diagnosis last year though he has stayed private about details.
The news impacts eight dates in Europe and according to the official site of QOTSA, the next scheduled show is August 24 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The last show before the cancelation announcement was last Saturday in Milan, Italy.
Earlier this month, Homme announced that QOTSA would become the first band to perform inside the Catacombs of Paris, and that the performance would take place in “a week’s time or so” though a date has not been listed.
