My major was biochemistry, and I had the greatest time in classes in labs, etc. I also was super appreciative of the alumni network USC provides students with, as it allowed me to use connections I made in the classroom to get jobs outside, like lab work or other. Football games and student life was awesome. Advising was super good, especially as a student looking to go to grad school. The only things I wasn't crazy about were the low diversity, and the unsafe area. Many of the intro science courses were difficult and needed to be graded on a curve (we called them "weed-out" classes because they weeded out pre-med students who weren't serious about their grades). However, student life was wonderful and there were so many activities, opportunities, and resources on campus. The student housing and food options were all fantastic. Throughout my time I am constantly being challenged in my art and can see improvement semester to semester. I like the performance opportunities UNCSA provides each year. We get many guest artists who choreograph new works for Fall, Winter, and Spring dance. Ballet students also perform as The Nutcracker every year and other classic pieces such as The Firebird or Sleeping Beauty are performed in either winter or spring dance. Furthermore, we are given opportunities to collaborate with other art areas and are encouraged to see productions outside of our major. Sophomore: Wesleyan University is an amazing school. The people here are all passionate about something and are incredibly driven towards their goals. You will see people on campus filming short films, dancing in three different groups at the same time, and people tutoring in the writing center, local schools, and more. The professors are all incredibly knowledgeable and understanding, so I have enjoyed all my classes, even those unrelated to my major. Middletown is just a regular suburban town, but compared to the other NESCACs, it's one of the more fun towns/places. Also, in case you are on financial aid, you will get a nice amount of aid (this was my cheapest option!). There is always stuff to do on campus, whether it is a movie night at the film center, dances and concerts, or a party! It's literally just the Goldilocks school. I'm class of 2026, so I've been on campus for about two years now and each year, I've been able to meet some of the best professors and even better people. Conversations with peers are just as nuanced as the people and although the campus could still do with some diversity, I think we're definitely on the better end (I say this as a half Black and half-Asian student from a very predominantly white town). I've found that it's really easy to make friends because the campus and class sizes are so small (that being said, I'm also more extroverted). Senior: I have had an excellent experience at the University of Miami. I started at the school during the Spring semester of my Freshamn year which made it a bit hard to meet people initially, but I found my people after only a few shorts weeks. I played club field hockey and joined a sorority, which made the adjustment easy. Academically, I find the school very challenging, but I believe I'm receiving an excellent education. I'm majoring in Health Sciences and this summer I'm working at a hospital as a nursing assistant. I feel well prepared thanks to some of the courses I've taken at school. The one drawback for me was I only had the opportunity to live on campus for one semester. Housing is hard to secure, so I've had to live off campus which I would have ideally delayed until my junior or senior year. The campus is beautiful and I'm very happy. Sophomore: UC Berkeley is a prestigious institution that has a lot to offer in academics and extracurriculars. To me, the people are what make the experience so great, and fortunately, with such a large class, there is a myriad of people and groups to be affiliated with which illustrates the diversity at Berkeley. Some things can be frustrating sometimes such as applying for classes, finding resources, and having intrapersonal interactions with professors and classmates due to Berkeley being such a large institution. Additionally, there are other inconveniences such as the lack of housing for students which in my opinion, needs to start being a priority for the administration. Overall, UC Berkeley has a lot to offer and it is truly what you make of it. As someone who is heavily involved in varsity athletics, extracurriculars, leadership positions, and paraprofessional organizations, I am proud to call UC Berkeley home for me and I carry that with pride and class. Junior: What I like about DePaul is their cybersecurity program and the resources they have to help you with it. The professors I have taken for those classes have been great and were able to provide me with a lot of resources in order to help me improve on my skills. The study abroad programs are also great as I have already done two short term ones, one being in my freshmen year which is for students in their first year of college to be able to study abroad and I just did my second one this summer. Some things I would want them to improve upon is giving more funding for their cybersecurity program which is known for being great but feels like it gets less attention compared to some of their other programs. As well as having more options for long term study abroad programs for cybersecurity majors instead of having them save up space in their liberal arts elective courses to be able to do the other long term programs....
