Internship Opportunities

NCPLS has filled all of our internship positions for the Summer of 2024

If you are interested in applying for an internship for the Summer of 2025, we encourage second-year law students to begin applying in September of 2024. We encourage first-year law students to apply after the end of their first semester or grading period.

Internship overview:

 

NCPLS regularly hosts law students of all class levels for both semester and summer terms. Interns gain practical experience working with attorneys on a broad range of assignments and topics.

 

Projects often include:

  • Legal research

  • Reviewing trial transcripts and discovery

  • Drafting briefs, motions, and pleadings

  • Client interviews

  • Initial case reviews

  • Attending meetings and hearings as they arise

Summer interns are expected to work from mid-May through the beginning of August, although shorter internships may be arranged in some circumstances. Work requirements for semester interns are more flexible and can be negotiated on an individual basis.

How to Apply:

NCPLS participates in law school recruitment programs and career fairs at several North Carolina law schools. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply through those programs where applicable. Applicants may also submit materials directly to our office.

Applications must include:

  • resume

  • cover letter

  • writing sample of 5-10 pages
