Can anyone recommend a good hotel/aparthotel in Cornwall for a couple plus 1.5 year old during Xmas? We would prefer a hotel with child facilities and playground/gardens/beach nearby. We will be travelling from London.

Have a look at Bedruthan Steps. Gorgeous place, family friendly.

Sands Newquay or Watergate Bay Hotel. Or Porlurrian Bay Hotel on the Lizard but that’s a longer drive.

Thanks both! There seems to be so many ‘family friendly’ hotels in Cornwall so recommendations make all the difference! Plus we will probably fly/go via train there

Bedruthan isn't cheap, www.bedruthan.com/christmas-break/ but they are fabulous. They may be able to arrange a pickup for you at the airport (if flights are coming in to Newquay at that time of year?) or train station.

Polurrian Hotel is fantastic. It has up to two hours free childcare in the Four Bears Den. We liked the extra touches, such as Breakfast Club on Sundays where nannies collect the children for breakfast while you and your DH can have breakfast in bed with the morning papers. Little children love the 'mouse safari' (little stone mice hidden around the hotel and grounds) and climbing Crocodilla!
As well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, there’s a play area with swings and a slide, tennis court, a family cinema and a games room.
Before arrival, they'll liaise with you to ensure that your room is equipped with every item of baby equipment you need, including cots, nappy bins and bottle warmers. For the very little ones, the chef is even happy to provide puréed food and they can bring milk to your room free of charge.
Unfortunately it's not very accessible by public transport, but Fowey Hall is managed by the same people and is very near Newquay.

Fowey is a good half hour from Newquay - handy for train (Par or Lostwithiel) but if you fly I’d definitely go Sands, Watergate Bay or Bedruthan. Lizard is just ages.
