Hello, sorry to start another Cornwall thread, I can see a few. I booked a camping holiday to Newquay last year. Not doing so good money wise now :( Would anyone have any good ideas for cheap things to do, or anywhere cheap to eat? I have kids age 4 and 7. Obviously planning on spending time at the beach!! But would be nice to do something else too. Are there any good parks with playareas? Previously did Zoo, Aquarium etc but they are around the £40 mark for family of 4. Will have car. Thanks for any help!

As has been mentioned Mawgan Porth is a great beach, huge and with a stream running down to the sea. Porth beach in Newquay itself is also good, you park right on the beach so it's easy to move your stuff.

Callestick Farm is lovely, you can watch the ice cream being made and theres a little play area with pigs and chickens around it. Plus they have a cafe.

Screech Owl Sanctuary is also great, lots and lots of birds plus goats, ponies, meerkats, alpacas, ducks and other animals. There are flying displays and you can touch the birds. There's also a great play area, plus they've added two trampolines to it this year. Plus they have a cafe.

This place is not 'cheap' but fantastic value & a fab day out. We have been several years in a row and I thought our three children (8-12. years) had outgrown it this year but all complained heavily when we didn't go this year.

Worth every pence and a whole day out as a special trip.

Not sure when you are visiting but Pirate radio - local Cornish station has been offering discounts to various attractions so worth tuning in or checking the website.

We visited a Frankie & Benny's restaurant in St Austell last Friday and downloaded the app. This gave us two free children's meals. We asked for a jug of water for the table and ate out with 5 people for £25. Really good filling dinner too. x

Also try Healey's cider farm. I wouldn't bother with any tours just pay £4.50 per adult & £3.50 for over 6s (under 6s free) for the tractor ride. It's really good fun. Then go in to the free bits of the museum/factory/jam kitchen & farmyard animals, etc. Kids will like the animals.
Then jump in the car and go two mins literally up the road (signposted) to Callestick diary ice cream farm. You can walk around & up a platform to see ice cream being made. Then have an ice cream there. Would be a good three hours trip out between the two places. Loads of fun for not too much money.
