Created for Mark Warner

Whether you're craving sunshine in breathtaking settings or seeking thrilling adventures, Mark Warner beach holidays offer enjoyable getaways, suitable for guests of all ages. Mark Warner understands that many of us feel overwhelmed with where to begin when it comes to planning and booking holidays with little ones.

Therefore, Nikki from Mark Warner is here to answer Mumsnetter’s questions!

  • Nikki will be reading and answering your questions until the end of May.
  • One lucky Mumsnet user will then win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice

Nikki will be back throughout the month to answer a selection of your questions.

About Nikki:
From the age of 16, Nikki has built a career around her two passions: childcare and travel. Taking her first Mark Warner job in 1992, Nikki worked in resort as a Nanny and then as a Childcare Manager. After almost a decade she made the switch to working in the London head office running the operational side of childcare across all resorts. With the job she’s had ever since, Nikki still gets to travel a lot and delivers some of the best kids holidays clubs around.
‘Even after all this time, without question the most satisfying part of my job is seeing how much confidence grows in children in just a week or two. Meeting and making new friends helps kids to really come out of their shells, but the chance to learn something like sailing that they’d probably never get to experience anywhere else is incredible. The transformation from the start of the week to the end of it is something you can’t help but smile about.’

About Mark Warner:
“Over the last 50 years Mark Warner has perfected the family holiday.
In our family-friendly beach resorts across Greece and Turkey our kids’ clubs are all about activity. Every child from 4 months old to 17 joins a club where they come first, led by qualified and energetic childcare professionals. Babies and toddlers enjoy home-from-home care, while children aged 3-17 learn to kayak, paddleboard, play tennis and so much more.
Holidays that give you a lifetime of memories - guaranteed.”

So whether you have a question on preparing for your travels, what activities/childcare are available to your family, or perhaps what accommodation to book with a newborn - post your question on this thread for expert Nikki to answer.

Thanks and good luck!

Are your holidays allocated family friendly flight times, I would not want to book unless we flew at lunchtime (ish) to save early mornings and late nights.

Do you have SEN trained staff - My eldest has diagnosed ASD and needs special attention - I often find that some clubs cannot cope with a SEN child.

Do Mark Warner provide babysitting services for the evening?

One of the best features of our childcare clubs is that we actually offer something in the evenings too! It gives parents the opportunity to have some evenings to themselves and enjoy dinner in resort. From 4 months - 9 years, children can join 'Evening Listening' from 7.30-10pm. Younger children will be in supervised sleep club, where older kids (5-9yrs) can enjoy a movie evening. For Tweens there's a supervised dinner club and for Teens a social evening followed by team challenges or flood-lit sports. You must be booked into daytime childcare to benefit from the evening sessions. If you're planning an evening away from the resort, then babysitting is available at an additional cost and is bookable once in resort. It is subject to availability and not guaranteed so do give as much notice as possible. You will need a baby sitter any time you want to leave resort or if not booked into our childcare clubs.

It's not always possible to avoid early mornings, but the benefit of leaving earlier is that you arrive in resort at a nice time to settle in. Flight times vary depending on which resort you're going to, but they're all direct flights. Mark Warner staff are then there to meet you at the airport to get your holiday started. With the shortest being 3 hours with a 30 minute resort transfer Paleros Beach Resort makes a great choice for families with young kids.

Travel cots are provided for children under two years old and bed guards if needed can be requested at all of our resorts. We don't have a buggy hire service in resort as we find that most parents with young children bring these along for use at the airports.

What is the maximum numbers allowed at a kids club, and what is the ratio of staff to children - are staff trained to look after young children ?

Thanks for your question, @DinkyDaffodil. Absolutely, all of our childcare staff have qualifications. We cater for a wide age of children from 4 months - 17 years and employ staff with a wide range of qualifications or two years of childcare experience to reflect this. These include teachers and sports coaches for the older children and for the younger children, Leaders have early year qualifications. All staff are first aid trained and DBS checked. There are ratios for each childcare club and they vary by age bracket, so the ratio will depend on the age of your child, for example Babies have a ratio of one nanny to 2 babies, while for Mini Club (3-5 year olds) there is a ratio of 1:6. All ratios are listed on our website and can be found by club - www.markwarner.co.uk/childcare/summer/

Yes, you will need to prebook childcare when you make your booking as childcare spaces are in high demand and can go very quickly, especially on popular dates. Children aged between 2 and 17 will get daily complimentary club sessions which you can use as you wish. We'll keep the place for your child open and they can be signed in and out by a parent. We often find that kids enjoy their first few sessions so much that they keep coming back even when they hadn't originally planned to!

Can you give me an example of the activities which take place in a kids club please ? and do I have to pay for sessions ?

The activity timetable depends on the Club, but we always try to make the most of the beach resort environment we are in regardless of age - so the weekly program will always include pool time, team games, trips to the beach and waterfront activities like sailing and windsurfing for everyone aged 6+. For the younger children, under 5, activities will include a balance of indoor and outdoor time with kids enjoying arts and crafts, story times, singing and time to play with toys. There are purpose-built air-conditioned childcare buildings at every resort.

Childcare is included in all Mark Warner summer holidays for children aged 2-17 years old. There is a small charge for 4-23 month olds where the childcare ratio is much higher and places are more limited.

Rooms don’t have black out blinds but heavily weighted curtains so rooms are dark. Some resorts also have sheer privacy curtains suitable for day time privacy too.
