To ask what sex toys you'd recommend

Hi, NC for this.

I have had pretty much zero sex drive for a long time, and really need to try and get it kick-started. DH is very patient but is finding it very frustrating.

Things are gone very stale, very same-old same-old, and we both want to try something new / make a few changes - sex toys being the main idea.

However we're both heading for 50 and neither of us have ever having used anything before, and we just have no idea where to start. I suggested going into a sex shop, but we both chickened out when faced with the actual prospect of doing it - going in completely green, no idea what's what, feeling stupid. I had a look on some websites, but there was such a huge array of products that I just didn't know where to start.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some ideas / recommendations. Do people use things like rampant rabbit as couples? Or is that just something for a woman to use on her own? What about lube - who puts that on? God I sound like such an idiot Blush Sorry!

If you've found this page in your search of the best couples sex toys that have been recommended by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best sex toys for couples useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Oops, sorry! I didn't even realise there was a sex topic. I had a look through the Talk categories and there are so many of them I can't see a sex one - just lots with 'more...' at the end.

I'll go and investigate further...

Good luck in your search! We've moved your thread to the Sex topic as that's where you're going to find the experts.

Not really much help here, but if you’re sex drive has almost disappeared, I couldn’t imagine anything worse than a sex toy!
Surely you’d be better off getting back to basics and
taking things slowly, trying to connect again with your partner in a sexual way, rather than whipping out a dildo?

Thanks all.

We're close - talk, laugh, have a good connection, but I think the sex just got very boring. Always the same. I'm hoping something new will spice things up.

I've no idea what magic wand is but I'll have a look. I want something that we can have fun with together, just don't know where to start.

I have the micro magic wand and it's fab.

The love honey website video reviews give you a good idea of size/power ect.

The Lovehoney website is a great place to start. Lots of information and videos. Bit safer than venturing into a sex shop!

The Ann Summers Moregasm set (vibrator that kind of looks like a computer mouse, and a vibrating cockring) - couldn't recommend them more highly. Classy looking, rechargable, feel amazing, waterproof... Honestly, just the best toys I've ever owned!

Oh and to answer some of your other questions - the Moregasm set is very couple friendly in that the shape of the vibrator is perfect to put in your hand and use either on yourself or someone else, and the ring feels good for both of you. It comes with lube too! Buy something and then just approach it together, the first time me and my OH used it he burst out laughing as it was quite noisy, but it broke the tension and was funny, which helps relax a situation!

Thanks Jain, I'll try what I've ordered for now (didn't arrive today after all, and there I was, quite looking forward to trying it out Grin) and go on from there.

The Moregasm sounds interesting alright! Hopefully things will start to liven up soon...

Lovehoney was set up by someone I was at grammar school with..

Not sure if they list that amongst their alumni :)
