My DS got a lot of joy out of the ELC postbox at that age. That one seems to have been discontinued, but you can probably get similar ones elsewhere. 'Posting' objects that make a satisfying clunk.

Hide and squeak eggs were a massive hit for mine at that age. They were too young to sort yet but the lids and the squeaking were the fun bits.

Mine really liked (and still like now at age 2 and 5!) WOW toys. They are really robust, the little people are made in one piece so they’re not a choking hazard and the vehicles have push and go motors (no batteries). They’re really fab. My littlest spends ages putting the animals in the farm truck and pushing them along.

The best things mine had at that age were Happyland and Peek a blocks, they played with them in one way or another from about 9 months old until 4 or 5 years old. Dd had a Ballapalooza for her first birthday too and loved it but only for 6 months or so.

Thought about something along these lines. Have seen a feed me Dino and also a large piggy with coins. So might get one of them.

Fisher Price Little People were a massive hit with my DD. She has the farm, safari, school house, and a Disney castle. Shes now 4 and still wont part with them. I dont think they still have the same selection there used to be but argos & Smyths used to a good selection.

That pig where you put coins in it.
Decent sized cars & vehicles
Tony eggs
Bath toys
Little Brian paint sticks are good and not too messy!
Play kitchen and food were big hits from about 18 months onwards

I think my DS must be the only child not interested in hide & squeak eggs, everyone else seems to love them.

My DS (now 16 months) loves his little shopping trolley. And the wooden fruit you can cut in half.

Also yes to play kitchen. Ours is in our actually kitchen and means I can get the washing up done while he works in his kitchen.

Happyland toys are fab at that age and last years. My six year old is growing out of his but he still loves them.

There is a wonderful online toy company called Jaques of London who sell a variety of age appropriate toys, all wooden. Lovely quality and beautifully packaged when it arrives. Also very reasonably priced. I've bought lots from there and would highly recommend it for gift ideas.
