Hi mommas, I'm wondering what is/was your child's favorite toys?

It's just so many toys on the market to choose from that need an advice. Many thanks

I always recommend stacking beakers. they have so many uses and provide hours of fun. Other than that, DD liked the roasting tins and wooden spoons.

How old is your child? Babies need very little and are easily entertained by items you have lying around at home. However I would recommend black and white images for anyone expecting a baby. I have some b&w fabric my DD loves to gaze at, and also made some b&w cards with patterns on using a black felt too.

Stacking rainbows are a hit with my 1 year old and 2 year old and have been for the past year. Aside from the stacking small to large, they’ve loved learning the colours, making tunnels out of them to run cars through and making slides to run cars along.

any toys that have multiple uses where they can use their imagination and create things from their own accord are the best. They’re usually the cheaper toys too.

Thank you ladies. My DD is 8 months old and we just had a christening and she got a few gift vouchers so trying to pick some gifts for her.

Is it ok for an 8 months old to play with toys 12m plus etc? (sorry I'm a first time mom)

They may not play with them the correct way but there's no harm in that. Exploring is good. As long as you see that they're not going to break them.

Also there's a bit of a spill over (can't think of the word) in the ages of toys. They are ok for younger and older kids. As long as they are safe (no small pieces for a child who puts everything in they mouth for example) and not being broken by bad usage (throwing everything on floor stage.......)

We love stacking rings and little cars (obviously age appropriate ones, not the corgi type).

Also the baby walkers- everyone seems to have the vtech one. My 9mo loves pressing the buttons although she's nowhere near walking yet. My 3yo still plays with it too.

Our walker had a piano with it. Very good! Still have the piano 😁

Bought this for my son when he was 7 months old and it was a firm favourite for at least 6 months. He’s 3 now and still plays with occasionally. Obviously it takes up room and isn’t cheap but is our most cost effective toy when you look at the amount it’s played with.

My DD is nearly two. But things she had a while and enjoys playing with still:
Wooden dolls pram (John Lewis), doll, duplo, books, stacking cups and wooden blocks, spinning giraffe ball toy, wobble board (very versatile and can be used for many years)

My 8 month old loves his Hide and Squeak eggs (TOMY) and his spinning drum. It's similar to this one
