Toy recommendations for older babies

DS is 7 months old. He’s always been really good at playing but he seems to have outgrown his tiny baby toys. He still seems to be quite happy to play on the floor but gets bored really easily. I just think I need to get some toys which are more age appropriate, anyone have any recommendations? (If it helps to know, he’s crawling and is quite the mover!)

Definitely treasure basket! Mine loved household objects more than toys at that age - hairbrushes, kitchen stuff like whisks and cups and bowls, sponges etc all went down really well.

Agree with above recommendations. Keep it simple as they will last for much longer than the toys specifically marketed at that age group.
Stacking cups, toy food (which they will use in role play when older), musical instruments (we have basic set with shakers, bells, castanets, xylophone) - mainly just the shakers at 7 months but they grow into the rest

love a stacking cups at that age...we also had the fisher price cookie jar which was a hit.

Tony eggs are good. My 3 year old still plays with them. Generally I like elc and galt toys but Ikea also has good finds.

Stacking cups and rings, treasure basket with household items, bubble wrap, emergency foil blanket, musical instruments. We brought an activity centre thing that he could either sit in or cruise around the outside and play with all the toys on it (he was standing supported at 8mo) and that was played with daily for about a year.

This is so useful, thank you! He has a random box of household crap already, maybe I need to add to it. I actually just went to the 99p store and bought odd things that looked safe enough for him to put in his mouth (because obviously that’s where everything ends up!!)

I’m going to look into some stacking cups. Hadn’t even thought of that.

I think I may buy some wooden blocks too, I find it quite therapeutic to build towers of them so that’ll encourage me to get on the floor and play with him.

Also good to hear that I wouldn’t be jumping the gun if I bought him some toy food.
