Bed LINEN

Hi! The hot weather is making me think about trying bed LINEN rather than cotton sheets. I've heard good things. Do I need it? Do you have linen sheets? Love them or loathe them? Are they overhyped? Tell me everything!

I love my linen bedding! Use it all year around. If you like your bedding soft and satiny, it would not be for you. If you like your bedding crisp, you would like it. I never iron mine and always try to dry it outside. I wash mine at 40 degrees, otherwise it shrinks.

Thank you so much for replying! I have been checking this thread daily!

I like the look of linen and want something that looks classic and will be cool for my husband to sleep under (he keeps flinging the duvet off and onto me!)

I will resume my search online! Thank you again so much!

I don't want to trouble you but if you have any shop recommendations, I would love to hear them :)

I bought some bedlinen recently from Piglet in Bed. Expensive but high-quality, and lovely.

I'm literally just looking at this, it looks like amazing value! Has it arrived? Do you love it?

I love it, mainly because it is so easy to use and involves zero ironing. Always dried outside or over stairs if it's raining. It gets softer the more you use it but definitely doesn't have the feel of an expensive, high thread count sheet or duvet. Does feel like a pricey investment at the time but I have had several years use out of mine, however, both the sheet and duvet cover have now gone in holes within weeks of each other. As I hate waste I intend to chop the duvet cover up and make some pillowcases with the good bits...😀

I got mine from Soak and Sleep and the newer set from La Redoute.

I adore it. (Slightly shame-facedly, as I really can’t afford it, as we’re coming to the end of a two-year house renovation…) Colours are lovely, it feels luxurious, but casual at the same time, and very soft — I don’t like ‘crisp’ or glassy bedlinen.

I went with a mismatched bundle, as I’m not matchy-matchy in my leanings.

I prefer good cotton to linen, it turns out. Though I prefer silk to either of them.

So happy to help, Reach 😊! I buy my linen from Soak and Sleep. Hemp bedding is very similar to linen, pretty much undistinguishable.
EBearhug, it's really opposite to silk, so it's not surprising that if you like silk, you wouldn't like linen. Far too slippery for me. I try to avoid using the dryer for bedding, it makes it lose the crispness that I really like, I tend to hang it with dehumidifier on in winter. I don't think I have used my cotton sheets for years now!

Thank you all so much! I went for M&S in the end for about £100 as it's pure linen and has great reviews. I desperately wanted the Piglet in Bed set but faltered at the last moment as I was worried about spending so much until I know I like it. Now I'm worried I will be disappointed because it's not Piglet 😆

Will keep you posted when it arrives!

Thank you all so much!

Now I feel bad I got you mentally involved in something freakishly expensive!

There is an good chance I will go back for Piglet at some point 🤭 those sets are so so pretty and I want to live in that mismatched bed! And they will last for life, right!? X

Update: The linen is here and it is DIVINE! Like sleeping under a soft, light, airy cloud.
