Can anyone please recommend a make of good strong retractable clothes line, for towels, sheets etc? Available in the UK.

Thanks

We had a Minky one at our last house. It had two lines so was great for a full load. No complaints.

Second the Minky. 2 x 15m lines. Recommend a line pole/support to help with weight though. Puts less strain on the internal retractor thing.

Sorry for duplication - don't know what happened there!

ahh, line support is a good idea. I wondered how such a small gadget could take the weight of towels, sheets etc. what do you use for a line support? old broomstick ??

We have the minky retractable one. You can buy the support poles very cheap from Amazon, they often come as a pack of 2. An old broomstick definitely wouldn't be tall enough for my washing lines. The ones you can get on Amazon are adjustable so you can get the right height for your lines

Also recommend the minky two line version and making sure you use clothes line poles. Ours lasted about 3-4 years before needed replacing as the plastic became brittle in the hot direct sunlight of summer and then frosty winters. We had two in 7 years.

Sorry I should say it was the bit you wrap the line around to stop it sliding that snapped on both lines we had. Tbh with the second one we were months away from moving house so rather than replacing we just put a hook on the wall under the retractable bit to tie it round instead.

Yep, minky double one.

I find washing poles in Wilko's, if you have one nearby?

I had this one across my balcony. It could take several loads of laundry. Very robust.

I have the Argos own brand Minky 2-line dupe. Has lasted 8 years so far.

For a washing pole I bought a 2.4m length of 2x1 from B&Q and cut a v-notch to hold the line.
