If you can be bothered I'd like washing machine recommendations

Desperately need a new machine and keep falling down rabbit holes of reviews and procrastinating.
I'm looking for energy efficient, a 9kg + capacity and won't buy from Hotpoint or associated brands.
TIA

There was a big thread a while ago, I think the brands that were most often mentioned positively were Siemens, Bosch, and Miele.

I have a 3 year-old Bosch, this one - www.johnlewis.com/bosch-wan28201gb-freestanding-washing-machine-8kg-load-a-energy-rating-1400rpm-spin-white/p3208218
It's good, no issues so far, and I live in an area with very hard water.

Oops sorry not Siemens, it was Samsung posters were praising.

Samsung Ecobubble - I love ours.
A rated, quiet, good (if long) eco cycle, washes well.

I have 2 Samsung eco bubbles, 1 inside for day to day clothes and older 1 in garage for DH overalls, and gardening clothes. 5 year guarantee and can operate from Samsung phone

Thanks all.
My current one is Bosch and it's been great but I've seen reviews say their not as energy efficient as they appear.

My friend has Samsung that she recommends. @Notagain76 does it need WiFi? Our machine will be in the garage and the signal doesn't reach that far.

@alwayscrashinginthesamecar1
Won! Lucky you. Is it one of the dose control Miele models?

Don't know if John Lewis are associated but I'm very happy with my JL 8kg washer bought 2 years ago. I got the extended 5 y warranty which I felt was a good deal compared to other retailers.

Miele. I'd like a new one but the ten year old one refuses to die!

As long as your phone has Wi-Fi I believe it should work but not 100%sure to be honest, as mainly just put it on rather than delaying start times

I've been through loads of washing machines (because my DH does a filthy job and leaves ginormous screws in his pockets that eventually kill all machines). I've bought a beko because I can't face paying big bucks for a machine (see above!). It's the best machine I've ever had!

You can change the temperature and spin on every single setting. And it doesn't beep at me when it's finished (I'd never have a beeping Bosch ever again).

I went for the biggest drum. Think it was about £350. I'll tell you in 2 years if it survives my husband's abuse....

Is it the Twindos? I hate mine 😭

OP, I'd recommend a Miele buy NOT the twindos system.

We have a Zanussi, it’s good. The downside for me is that it doesn’t beep when it’s finished (some Zanussi models might, idk) but that’s a plus for some people.

Is this the one that measures out the detergent? Why do you hate it!?

This made me laugh however I love my old beeping Bosch. My machine lives in the garage, I need the beep to remind me it's finished.

You can in theory use your own detergent but the machine does everything to stop you doing so. It is all geared to use its own cartridges which you have to buy. I want to bung my own detergent in and switch it on, I don't want to have to turn all the options off every single time I use the blasted thing. I don't want to to a maintenance wash at 85 when it tells me to which is very frequently, once every 6 weeks was fine with my 20 year old Miele. If you don't do it, it won't run the cycle. It seems like every time I put washing in,it tells me something new I need to do to just do my washing!

I've had it over a year and still don't like it. The Miele detergent isn't nice at all so I just use that for towels ( or dh's shirts 😉)

It was the only one that could be delivered during the pandemic, everything else was a 6 week wait.

It's massively over engineered. I loved my old Miele one, it was fantastic. This has a huge drum, that's the only bonus. All our white goods and vacuums are Miele but I loathe this machine.

I have a Samsung ecobubble and if it broke tomorrow I'd be straight back out for another one.

Can't really think of a single bad thing to say about it. I had a Swan before simply because the price was right and it was fine but I'd say I get the same results with Samsungs 15 min quick wash, and better results even with the 30 min cycle. My mum isn't the biggest fan of the fact it serenades me for like 30 seconds when it's finished but I'm sure there's a way to turn it off lol.

Bosch Siemens or Miele. Siemens comes with a 5 year warranty if it’s freestanding. I would steer clear of Samsung as their after sales service is abysmal if it goes wrong. Modern Miele machines will not last as long as the old ones did. They only have a 2 year warranty unless they are doing a promotion.

Miele

Just buy the cheapest one in Argos that does what you want. Many cannot be economically repaired anymore.

You will get a 12 month guarantee and if you chuck a £1 coin in a jar after every wash, you will soon have enough to buy a new one when it does finally collapse.

Miele, ours has been going strong for 15 years, never had a single issue. It is super heavy though, movers always hate it when we move house. I will buy Miele again if it ever breaks down.

Miele often have promotions on the guarantees, ours came with a 10 year one ( which I'm so pissed off about as I'm stuck with it for another 9 years!)

Miele twenty two years and going strong, ditto tumble dryer.
