WTH is all this fluff - new lint roller

I saw one of these and was sucked in by the advert. I got mine cheaper but just tried it and horrified how much fluff came out of my carpet. I'd be pleased as well as horrified BUT - is it simply shaving a layer off, like a Hollywood Browzer for carpet ?! 🤔. Am I wrecking my carpet if I do a bigger area? Or am I in need of a new hoover, fast? Don't judge but pics for interest / horror

Do you have pets?

I got one and it was clear it was pulling up actual carpet - you could clearly see the carpet fibres. If it's carpet you should be able to tell

I too got sucked in by that. I could have knitted a new cat with the amount of hair I got off my stairs (I do actually have cats already) and it did a cracking job on my sofa cushions.

is it a blade??
I have a very moulty jack russell.....this looks good if its just lifting stuff, not cutting

I'll investigate further. Wish I'd name changed to filthygit123 now. I'm so horrified. Yes we have a dog. I rubber brush and hoover a lot though. I'll check if a blade. Looks like fluff though. I could weep at the possibility it's grot and filth

Is it a metal coil?
I've been googling what it is
Looks like what I get out my carpet when I use the hoover head that has a fabric lint remover bit on it
I have cats and the long haired one has very fine undercoat that seems to go deep into the carpet

I've got a set of two from Amazon (much cheaper than the sets I've seen advertised on insta!). Great on some fabrics and clothes but I'm 85% sure the carpet fluff was actual carpet fibres. I did get a few cat hairs up, but not many.

In short I think it could damage carpet.

This has made me be extra careful on the sofa and any other fabrics.

It's a metal coil. I checked. Did it on the stairs and what came off those was more carpet coloured so I'm a bit Confusednow. Impressive how it lifted dog hair (plus my carpet top layer ) off in lounge though....
N.B.it doesn't work on the bedroom cheap carpet that's kind of embossed and no real pile if that makes us think it's shaving it rather than magically lifting fluff!

I'm a tiny bit addicted. Just done my son's room. I've run out of carpet now as the teenager saw me brandishing it, said "oh for god's sake mum, what have you bought now?" I was asked to leave!

I've got one and it does pull carpet fibres. I've used it twice in about 3 months. First time it pulled equal amounts of fluff and dog hair up (two Labradors) then the second time hardly any dog hair but the same amount of carpet fluff as the first time.

I vacuum my stairs twice a week.

I'll need to go carefully then, or my carpet will look like one of those hairless cats?!
