Ohrid lake-North Macedonia suggestions

Hi there,

I am thinking about going to Ohrid lake in summer of 2024.Heard so many great things about Ohrid in North Macedonia(low cost flights from UK, affordable accommodation, nice pebble beaches, excellent cuisine) but can someone tell me more about the lake shoreline?Shall I book a boat trip and go scuba diving, is visiting the Albanian and Greek side of the lake interesting to explore...?

I have visited Lake Ohrid quite a few times as I have family in North Macedonia and agree that it's definitely one of the best places to visit, especially during the summer!

I can't give you much advise on scuba diving but imagine it must be pretty good as the waters are crystal clear and teaming with the native Lake Ohrid Trout. With regards things to do around the lake there is Ohrid itself, with it's old town, fortress and a number of small pebbled beaches. Further a field you have the town of Struga which has some larger beaches, Galicica National Park, Monastery of Saint Naum and the Bay of Bones Museum.

I'm not overly familiar with the Albania side, but don't believe it's as developed with regards tourism. I'm sure you'll have a great time, but if you need any more information this article provides some other interesting things to check out.
