Safe and decent hostels/hotels in London

Hello all,

As a student, spending 5 days in London all by myself, would you have any recommendations for decent/quiet London hostels or hotels?

Is it possible to find something that will leave a first good impression yet also not too pricey?

Thank you for reading

Dsd has stayed in a place in Hammersmith that is cheaper (still £££)

There’s a few Youth Hostels in London. It will be cheap if you stay in a single sex dorm.

Wombats near Aldgate/Tower Hill has a very good reputation, I live locally and have friends who have stayed there. Lots going on in the area, plenty of places to eat and drink at reasonable prices, plus easy access to good transport (tube, DLR, riverboat, trains, cycle superhighway, etc).

Thanks all

I'm going this Spring though looking at those prices, whew, I certainly understimated the market

@cassiatwenty what prices were you expecting? If you share your budget, we can try to help.

I stayed at the YHA St Pancras recently very clean and modern. They have single sex dormitories

Any chain hotel is safe - why would you think differently?

YHA London Central or St. Christopher's London Bridge (avoid their Hammersmith location, Clink 261 and Astor Victoria)

My daughter stayed at A YHA in central London.

You are the first poster to mention 'safe'. The OP didn't and neither has anyone else. OP asked for decent/quiet and not too pricey.
