Disneyland Paris - where to stay?

Hopeful16 · 28/02/2022 19:26

Just that really... we want to go in December and will have a 4yo and an almost 6yo. Where do people recommend to stay? Which hotel is best for families? Is there a point to paying more to be a few minutes closer?
TIA of advice.

I like sequoia lodge, apologies if that isn’t spelt correctly, but there is building work going at the moment, I’ve also stayed at Newport and its very nice.

The best you can afford is my honest answer. One of the ones you can walk to from the park is a big plus for me as the buses can be horrible at the end of the day. The Disneyland Hotel was amazing.

@Simonjt I was looking at Newport but didn't know if it looked too "grown up" for 2 small children - if that makes sense?!?!

We've been to Dave Crocket before. It's about 15 mins drive from the parks.
It has a relaxed vibe, not 'too Disney' and is cheaper than the park hotels while still having plenty of Mickey-ness.
Self catering, but there's restaurant on site. You get a breakfast in a takeaway bag each morning.

It's not grown up. It's a bit run down and massive! Also a bit of a walk from the park.

We went in November and I wasn't really a fan but sure you will have fun.

@DaffodilDandilion ah ok! That's great info - thank you.
After the last couple of years we're due a bit of a blow out so are happy to spend a bit more.
What about rooms? Is it worth upgrading?

I much prefer booking an apartment near Disney to staying in the Disneyland hotels tbh. It’s nice to have flexibility to eat in near by restaurants that are reasonably priced. I recently stayed here: 42 COURS DU DANUBE, 77700, Serris in an apartment . LA SUITE ENCHANTEE. Free Disney shuttle outside and a five minute walk to outlets / shopping centre.

@runforyourdog not a fan of the hotel or park??? I'm hoping they've done a bit of sprucing for their 30th anniversary.

It also has a swimming pool which the kids loved using.

I’ve stayed in all of the on-site hotels except the new marvel one. Sequoia Lodge is my DC favourite, even over the Disneyland Hotel!

Explorers, bit "further" out but not by much. Nice pool and play area, free shuttle to park, cheaper than Disney based hotels. Good facilities.

The Newport is lovely, but it is the largest on site hotel and gets very busy. If you go here, I'd really suggest going with a compass club room as that gets you access to a lounge area which is lovely to relax in away from the hustle and bustle.

Marvel is the newest (and the most expensive currently open) but is the closest to the park.

The hotels at the lower end of the scale have more recognisable themes (eg toy story) but are further away from the park.

It really depends on how bothered you are about a hotel, we’ve stayed at Santa Fe (cheapest) Cheyenne (next cheapest) and the hotel New York (just had a big make over and is marvel).
All in walking distance to the park following the river path, obviously the cheaper hotel is the furthest away but a manageable 20 min walk.
If you stay at the park hotel you get magic hours before the park opens to the public so we usually leave the hotel first thing to utilise them and stay at the parks all day so only need a hotel to sleep and the kids and us are that knackered we all get good nights sleep.
The walk to the New York was a lot less and the hotel was lovely but we wouldn’t pay the extra again for us we would rather have the extra as spending money due to how little we use the room.

Follow Disneyland for Brit’s Facebook group for all the tips.

We stayed at Cheyenne. The children were happy with it. The shuttle bus was regular. Food was OK.

Disneyland Hotel was amazing, the ambience, the food, shops, the smell, we had a balcony looking onto the park. Utterly magical.

If you’re going in December then Sequia lodge. It’s magical at that time of year - but it’s very cold outside!! Hats, scarves, thick gloves highly recommended.

@Hopeful16 just all of it generally it's so busy, so expensive and was so cold when we went!

If I went again I think I would stay further out so we could go to normal restaurants and shops. It gets a bit much when you can't get away from Disney crowds and prices.

We stayed at the cheapest of the park hotels, It was Cars themed but I can't remember the name of the hotel.
It was basic but fine,The furthest away from the parks but we still walked to the parks rather than taking the shuttle bus.
It was just a place to get our heads down and grab breakfast really.

@runforyourdog thanks for replying. I can imagine what you mean. We're doing a weekend so think we'll just buy into it and grit our teeth. Our kids are crazy sleepers (as in they are in bed 7pm til 7am) so we want to be as close as possible to make the most of their awake hours!
Ps I know it's a problem that most parents would love so I'm not moaning!

Couldn’t disagree more. God knows what your used to if you think Newport Bay is rundown. It may not be your cup of tea but rundown it most certainly isn’t. If your referring to recent cleaning issues then they have been present in most hotels since Covid. Also, it is ten minutes tops to the park.! It’s one of the closest ones apart from Disneyland Hotel and Marvel one.

Been to Disneyland Paris eight times.
For us, the hotel was as important as the park, so we have stayed in The Disneyland Hotel which is next to the main gate - three times and the remaining times we have stayed in The Newport Bay, a short but lovely walk by the lake to the Park.

Both hotels have pools which are a must for us, but if you can afford it then The Disneyland Hotel is the one I would go for as it is pure Magic !

We're doing Cheyenne in nov but we are "only" doing 3 days in dlp and then paris, so don't intend to have time to use a pool/facilities. We're fully planning full park days so will use the money saved on a few nice meals and take snacks for lunch.

we just stayed in the marvel hotel. It was great and good location. I loved the decor but the pool is very deep (i couldn’t stand) which wasn’t ideal for kids my age - armbands or nothing. not that you go to disneyland for the pools but mine love swimming pools!
we stayed at the disneyland hotel a few years ago which mine loved but don’t know when it reopens and it was vvv expensive
