Eurocamp holiday in The Netherlands - advice please.

Hi, we are thinking about booking a trip to The Netherlands with Eurocamp this summer. I was looking at Beekse Bergen and Duirnell but we can't book the accommodation we want for the full holiday so I may have to add in 3 days at Bospark 't Wolfsven which has very mixed reviews. We usually camp so basic accommodation is fine as long as the site is nice. I'm worried Duirnell is going to be unpleasantly loud and busy in August too but I think DDs will love it. I'd love to what you think of these sites if you have stayed.

We are looking at a couple of day trips too. One is to Efteling - DDs are 10 and 12 so past the fairy tale stage but are definitely not thrill seekers so they only enjoy tamer rides (pirate ship, waltzer, small rollercoaster etc). Will Efteling be worth it for us?

We are also planning a day trip to Amsterdam - any recommendations or must do's or is there anywhere else you would recommend visiting? Thanks for any help! It's our first holiday in ages so I'm a bit nervous about booking.

Have you tried booking Duinrell with the site themselves ? Their accomodation is amazing . We are just back from our fifth trip !

We have started at Beekse Bergen and at Efteling, I would absolutely recommend them both, in fact we are hoping to go back again, I preferred Efteling to Disneyland. We stayed at Easter though rather than during the summer holidays. I haven’t stayed at Duinrell so can’t comment on that, but agree with the previous poster that it’s worth checking directly with both campsites to see what accommodation they have available.

We absolutely loved Rotterdam. Stay overnight if you can.

Definitely the Efteling, it is great for all ages and lovely grounds.

Amsterdam - see which museums tickle your fancy and plan around that, maybe? The Rijksmuseum is a good shout of course.

www.landal.com/ Landal and www.roompot.com/ Roompot also have a large number of parks in NL, inland and on the coast if you wanted an alternative to make up some days. Efteling is fabulous - and I hate theme parks. The fairy world ride is magical.

Eurocamp is a fantastic choice for camping holidays in Holland. The accommodation is roomy with plenty of outdoor space; the campsites are well-kept with a huge array of activities to keep kids busy; there are pools, restaurants, riding and all manner of good solid outdoorsy stuff.

Took DCs to d'Efteling, they loved it. Only been to Duinrell as day visitors (we lived nearby). DCs enjoyed the water park.

There is a natural history museum in Leiden. Delft has a lovely quaint centre. Amsterdam is lovely during the day but changed character at sunset.

Weve been to Duinrell three times when kids were between 2 and 10. They absolutely loved it - loads of rides for them, amazing Tikibad pool, lots to see. The town it is in - Wassaner - is beautiful with nice shops and restaurants. We hired bikes and went to the beach and cycled to Leiden which is stunning. We also had days out in Amsterdam and Madurodam in Rotterdam is great.

In a way, it is a bit dated but i still can’t recommend it enough for young families.

I can help with Amsterdam (and elsewhere). Take a look at the kids' section of my blog below. There's inspiration for different ages, 48 hour itineraries, activities beyond Amsterdam etc. I'm an Amsterdam/Netherlands family blogger. The whole country is absolutely brilliant for families. Let me know if I can help with any specific questions (although I'm not an expert on holiday camps)

We did Duinrell in August (with Alfresco Holidays) and didn't find it especially noisy or crowded. We were with relatively young DC (eldest was 7), so weren't trying to queue for the biggest rollercoasters in the park or fastest flumes in the pool.

We cycled a lot as we took our own bikes and the bike paths are amazing - completely low-stress family cycling. In addition to heading to Leiden for the day, as PP mentioned, we cycled the whole way on the path through the dunes down to Scheveningen, was has to rate as one of the prettiest bike rides I've done in my entire life.

We compromised on accommodation as we couldn't get what we wanted due to it being booked up, and regretted it. We have friends who booked directly with Duinrell and got much nicer accommodation for the same money, so would do that next time.

Thanks so much for all the replies. It sounds like Efteling is definitely worth doing and I'm already wishing we could go for longer to fit in all these day trip ideas. I've decided to go ahead and book with Eurocamp for now just so that our booking are all with 1 company incase we need to move anything and we couldn't book duingalows for our dates anyway.

Lollylol - we are getting the ferry to Rotterdam and we are planning on spending a full day exploring.

Edgeware - we are torn between Rijksmuseum and the science museum.

GnomeDePlume - thanks for the tips. We'll do a morning in Amsterdam Wink and look at Leiden and Delft

DubaicreekResort - good to hear that Eurocamps are good

Kerzel - thanks, DDs are sooo excited about the pool

LondonMummer - thanks, I'll check your blog out.

NeverEnoughCake2 - the cycle to the dunes sounds great. We are taking our bikes.
