Beach holiday in May with young kids

Hi,

I want to book a beach holiday for a week in May. I have two children who will be 4 and 11 months when we go.

I’m looking for recommendations. I want somewhere that’s no more than 4-5 hours on a plane, on or next to a beach, half board or all inclusive, kids entertainment, at least 4* and a pool that is suitable for young kids i.e. freshwater, warm. I’m looking at Tui family deals, but has anyone been on one that they would recommend. I want it to be somewhere that will be warm in May.

We did Benalmadena in the Costa del Sol when DS was those ages. The promenade along the beach is pram friendly, and plenty for kids- zoo, aquarium, theme park etc.

Majorca was lovely and not too hot. Puerto pollensa in a good bet

No specific recommendations, but you will struggle to find somewhere hot - as opposed to please try warm- in May within 4-5 hours flight. If you want to swim, make sure you have a heated pool.

We are going to Lanzarote first week of June.

If you want guaranteed warmth in May the Canaries are your best bet.

Thanks. I was thinking the Canaries would be a good choice for May. I will try and look for hotels that have a heated pool though.

We've done a few of the Holiday Villages (booked through First Choice) and have been very impressed. We have stayed at the Minorca, Majorca and ibiza ones. Lovely apts, various pools, kids clubs, adult only pools etc.

The pools in the canaries aren't that warm and neither is the sea. Sicily might be another option or Crete

Cape Verde is lovely and some good hotels with child friendly pools and activities. We went a few years ago in February and it was mid 20s then so imagine by May it's even warmer. Loads of people with children there.

We've stopped at Zafiro Menorca in Cala n Bosch . Best hotel we've had a family holiday in and 2 lovely beaches a very easy small walk away.

Now when I booked it really wasn't my cup of tea but we stopped in a TUI holiday villages hotel in Kos. Tbh it wasn't the hell on earth I Wass expecting. Think it helped it's one of the smaller holiday villages. DD had a great time and loved the evening entertainment and did a few activities during the day. But the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Theres 4 pools one being a splash pool. It's also on the beach. We also rented a jeep to explore the island which is a really cheap and fun way to explore.

The Menorca holiday we did the last week of September but Kos was second week of may and for us that was hot. Pool and sea swimming was perfect

Be careful with Majorca. We went for a fortnight in May and it was cool and rainy most days. We were told by locals that this was unusual though. However it was very disappointing.

We love this place, highly recommend and can't wait to go back! Lanzarote is a beautiful island, as well.

The Algarve is warm end of May, I've been many times and never had disappointing weather. But the sea and pools are cold so a heated pool option may be an option? A lot of the big hotels do have indoor heated pools.

Yes, we loved it and I am not a resort type person (only stayed there as it was very reasonably priced and the beach/area looked much nicer than Playa Blanca etc - which it was). Nice walk down to Playa Blanca along the promenade though for the shops etc.
