Hi, we're going to Rome in August with my mother inlaw and Ds2 who will be 15.
Has anyone got any recommendations where to stay?
I'm so overwhelmed googling hotels!!
We need two rooms in the centre. We'd be happy with an apartment too

We stayed at hotel Adriano, it was central enough to walk to the places we wanted to visit and a reasonable price Smile

We stayed at Hotel Artemide. Walking distance to everywhere. Quite upmarket. Amazing ice cream place right next door.
Mind you it will be unbelievably hot in Rome then.

Hotel Forum, overlooks Roman ruins which are illuminated at night and breakfast is taken on a covered viewing terrace. You can request interconnecting rooms. Close to Colosseum.

Stay in Trastevere area - much much nicer than being slap bang in tourist area, has loads of lovely restaurants and easy walks to touristy areas. You get more for your money and less ripped off in restaurants.

We stayed near the Castel Sant Angelo/ piazza navona. It was all lovey cobbled little streets with minimal cars. I believe it's mostly sad catering apartments as they are old buildings.

There was a couple of supermarkets within walking distance and some great food places where you could get pizza or pasta for 5euro.

I was going to say Trastevere. It's delightful, fantastic restaurants and atmosphere, and walking distance from the Vatican and Central Rome. You will have a ball there.

We stayed in the Monti area. We decided what things we wanted to see (ancient Rome) and booked as close as possible to the main bits.

Trastevere here too. We stayed in a great Airbnb there a couple of years ago, with a lovely private garden. Love Rome!
