Crete Anyone?

Am looking to go to Crete next June, with DH and 2 teenagers, 16 and 15. Can anyone recommend somewhere on a resort or complex with 2 bedrooms? Not a private villa, but a villa on a resort, or an apartment.
Doesnt have to be fancy either, they are very quiet, so dont need acitivites etc.

A friend of mine stayed at Mike's apartments in Maleme this summer and said the village was quiet and low key. The beach is pebbly though. We're also looking at Crete for next year and searching up the same stretch of coast, as I like to book independently rather than packages.

We stayed in Elounda last year, which we liked a lot - nice busy town, lots of restaurants & boat trips, though we had a hire car for trips out too. There are resorts up the coast but I think they're quite expensive.

Chania is lovely too, by repute - it was too far for a day trip from Elounda. Also Rethymnon, ditto Smile They're both NE, we were fairly far west.

This was our apartment

There's also a smaller town called Plaka to the N of Elounda which is a bit more beachy.

Wrong on both counts! They're both NW, we were fairly far east Blush

How do you find these places? the Mike apartments look so lovely , but i think they are booked.
I am going to have to start researching like a madwoman.

Elounda is beautiful . We’ve stayed in Adrakos apartments before , really fantastic with a great view.

There is a lot of accommodation there, banana - if you decide on 2 or 3 places you like the look of & put those into eg Airbnb, tripadvisor, homeaway etc with your dates you should find something easily.

I’d never heard of Elounda until a friend went the year before & posted pics on FB!

If you’ll want to hire a car I can recommend athenscars - the local companies have much better terms than the multinationals, & they meet you in the terminal & take you out to their little compound instead of having to queue for ages at a desk

Thank you! Great info bout the cars.
Im not sure about Airbnb tbh, I would like a resort kind of place more than a private rental? Somewhere with a bar in the evening etc. Reception and security etc.
Im not fussy lol.

Ah - when I read ‘apartment’ in your OP I didn’t connect that with ‘resort’, sorry!

Well, as I said there are several resorts near Elounda but I know nothing about them. Have a look here though:

We stayed in a lovely resort called Agia Pelagia, I can't remember the name of the apartments but it was a nice little resort on the east part of the Island.

I have also stayed in Kalives on the West of the island, which was lovely too.

We went to Domes of Elounda for half-term and it was amazing! Highly recommended and easy to find a 2 bed apartment there. Not cheap but so worth it.
