Good value Amsterdam hotel?

Does such a thing exist?

On all the travel sights there is very little for under £100. Even a hostel was prices at £160 a night for 2 people!

I am looking for a room in April for myself and teenage son. Not looking for luxury just somewhere to sleep that does not break the bank.

Have you tried AirBnB? Public transport is very good so you can stay out of the centre but be in town in 10mins on the tram.

Amsterdam centre is tiny so accommodation is at a premium. You can stay a short distance away and tram to the centre in less that 15 minutes. I'm an Amsterdam blogger and have a number of posts that might be helpful but this is a good place to start. Let me know if I can help with anything

This might be useful if you're considering AirBnB

The conscious hotel by the Van Gogh museum is pretty good. They do triple rooms which makes them good value.

Agree about the Conscious hotel group. Good recommendation. They have 4 branches now. We stayed recently:

Thanks for the tip re Conscious Hotel group. However, they still want between £140-180 a night for a twin room ... ouch!

(OP should say travel sites, not travel sights).

Oh dear. Do browse through that first link I sent you. If you're happy to share a bed CitizenM might work or Ibis Budget could be a good option. There are other suggestions on there too

Look on Weekend.com.

They'll do the cheapest flights and hotel.

That is if you're just going for the weekend though.

Have you tried alpha rooms? Always a great deal on there!

Ouch, we paid no where near that!

You could try Art Hotel, should be under 100 Euros per night for an en-suite twin room and 22 bus across the road only takes about 10 minutes to reach the centre. westcordhotels.com/hotel/art-hotel-amsterdam-4-stars/

The Art Hotel is coming in at £149 for the one night. :(

What dates are you looking at? Is it school week or something?

Oh, I got 288 Euros for 3 nights, when I put in 3 random weekdays in April 2019, but if you want weekend dates then it might be higher..? Or is it because of the Easter weekend? Maybe look for an Airbnb near a tram stop as a pp suggested?

On booking dot com Art Hotel is 112 Euros (£100) for that night for a twin room. Going via a cashback site would get you between 3% (topcashback) and 10% (completesavings) off that. Motel One is even cheaper but only double rooms. You could always phone/email and ask if they have twins though, also worth asking hotels if they will beat/match the price on the booking dot com site for booking direct, as they pay these sites up to 25% in commission, so giving you a lower price for booking direct works out cheaper for them too and some have a 'lowest price for booking direct' guarantee...

If you don't mind a shared bathroom and want somewhere a bit more quirky/fun, then hotel not hotel has a room with 2 single beds for 100 Euros (£89) for that night, booked direct: www.hotelnothotel.com

Motel one is a good value hotel chain, similar to premier inn.

Have you looked in the Eurostar website? They had some good deals on train and hotel for various dates

The exchange rate is dreadful at the moment making previously reasonable hotels seem much pricier.

The Volkshotel in the East tends to be a bit cheaper and is good value. It's only a few minutes on the metro to the centre or a slightly longer (but scenic) trip on the tram.

Thanks. Have just booked Motel One (£97 with free breakfast). It is very central and near the university that we are there to visit.

We will not need to use the trams, so that will save a few pounds.

Thank you for all your suggestions and help.

I remember booking one of the ‘secret’ ones on lastminute.com and it was about £80 . Turned out to be the Hilton near vondelpark

Just found:

hotel-kings-court.hoteleamsterdam.net/en/?from=2019-04-16&to=2019-04-17&adults=2&children=0#service

On lastminute.com a twin room is £38.

Now really torn. Stay city centre for £100, or further out for £38.

So there is a budget option in Amsterdam!

A Dutch colleague once told me, that if I wanted to visit Amsterdam (very expensive) then to stay in Utrecht (cheaper) and get the train (cheap and efficient).

Stayed here in a twin room with teenage daughter. Very close to a metro station and quick access to central Amsterdam.

We stayed at the City Hotel near Central Station but I think it was slightly over £100 per night.

The botel ? Start at around €70 a night. Free ferry from behind train station.
Also Hilton next to botel stayed in there for £80 a night.

Keep checking the comparison sights maybe book one on bookings.com that can be cancelled without penalty as a back up.
But the prices do bounce around a lot on the web you just need to keep an eye on them and book when they are at a price your happy with.
