Thinking of going to Budapest in August with a nearly 2 year old. Any recommendations on where to stay and places to visit. Thinking 4-5 nights.

It's a lovely, classic middle european city.

We stayed here: goo.gl/maps/YRxwYXC6YjE2 before we had kids. Nice, clean, we got a very cheap deal. Big rooms for a business style hotel. I would aim to be this close to the city or nearer. You might find an apartment gives a bit more flexibility.

This big public baths (basically various pools) is good for kids:

We just went with a 2yo. We stayed at Bliss hotel which had apartments in the hotel so easier once children are asleep. I liked Palatinus lido on Margaret Island as it was more child friendly than the spas but still had hot pools. There is a park with a zoo (we didn't go in the zoo but enjoyed the park). There were also fountains little ones could play in and cool down.

We stayed on Andrassy ut with our 2 year old in airbnb. Get one with a big lift for buggy!

I second Margaret island for swimming. Our daughter went to zoo when I went to Spa. Platinus wasn’t open when we went out of season.

Plan to get taxis so you don’t get too hot and flustered walking between sites

Budapest is great for little kids. There’s a mini kid world which has a tiny Aldi for kids to play (can’t remember name) the zoo, a model train track centre on Andrassy ut, the children’s railway, outdoor pools. Outdoor dining in summer. Oh it is a wonderful destination! Great for families.
