Playa Mar, Alcudia Pins or other recommendation

We are currently looking at booking our first foreign holiday with our two girls, aged 4 and 2. We have seen the Playa Mar, Puerto Pollensa and the Alcudia Pins and think that both tick the box for kids clubs/ creche facilities, nice childrens pools, a playground and the beach. Has anyone been to either or have any other recommendations. We would ideally like to pay no more than 2500, including food. I've seen so many lovely places for over 3k but am struggling to find anything much cheaper, without compromising too much. Thank you so much for any advice.

Thank you so much. It is so reassuring to hear from people who have been. Did you self cater or go all inclusive? The quote we have is for self catering. I like the idea of eating at all of the restaurants in puerto pollensa but worry that the 20 minute walk each way every night may be too long for our girls. Do you know how much it is to upgrade when you are there to all inclusive. Thank you. Happy new year :-)

We went half-board. However, not much more for all inclusive. The pine walk is a 5 min walk away. It is along the shore and loads of shops & restaurants too. You can also get the bus from there into Pollensa town. Hth

I love PP, we stayed at the Playa Mar half board in 2011 and we loved it.

Puerto Pollensa is truly beautiful! We ave been or the last 2 years running. First year we stayed AI at the playa Mar. Good points.. Pools are lovely, nice graduated pool for little ones that lead into a deeper area for the bigger kids. There is a park on site and thats so handy, although its got virtually no shade at the park at all. The food is lovely, all drinks you can think of included on the all inclusive, even kids Lolly's and slush puppies. Kids made lovely friends and rate it vvvvv highly. Very close to a lovely beach and we caught crabs and fish rtc. Pine walk into pollensa also lovely. Bad points... It is just sooooo crowded... Sunbeds bed to bed, have to be up at 5 am to get a bed (what's new though eh?). Entertainment was awful with reps doing routines that was painful to watch. Often they'd come round the pool in the day singing bob the builder songs on microphone. It is an ALL English hotel... I will leave that to you to decide if that's good or bad!! Like I say kids loved it but we just didn't feel relaxed at all.

Last year we had the most beautiful villa in Puerto Pollensa. It was a fab holiday, peaceful, idyllic, and totally relaxing. We got a great deal a couple of months before we went on James Villas. The restaurants in Puerto Pollensa are brilliant so it was lovely to enjoy them every evening after a hard day relating by my peaceful pool area!!

Hope this helps

Thank you for all the replies. I can't wait to decide and get it all booked. I like the idea of a villa, but think our girls may be a bit too small for that at the moment as they both like constant entertainment. We've been to a lodge park in Dorset, which they loved, and the highlight of the holiday for them was the childrens disco every night with the dressed up characters. Do they have a disco at Playa Mar? If they are happy, then we are happy ;-) thanks again

Yeah they have a kids disco, where the characters come out dressed up...

Have you had a quote? It's really pricey depending on when you go..

I've done a search on Thomson for June but haven't looked for prices elsewhere. It does look like it will be over budget, unless we can get a deal. The quote we got was for self catering but I worry that the girls wouldn't want to walk 20 mins each way every night for food. I guess we could upgrade when there to AI. Is it expensive to eat in restaurants there? Thanks

Has anyone been/ heard feedback about Alcudia pins. The quote for that was AI, so would be quite a bit cheaper than Playa Mar. Is there anywhere to walk from Alcudia Pins or do you have to bus everywhere if you want to head off site. Thanks

I've been to alcudia pins and have rebooked for this year. We went all inclusive with a 4 and 2 year old.
Accommodation suited us as the apartments have a separate bedroom and kitchen area despite it being all inclusive.
Excellent pools, kids club and on the beach.
I would not chose self catering there as it's a bit too far out to get a range of restaurants.
We have paid just over 2k for 11 night's .AI.

Thank you, that is really helpful. I have decided to call and see what deal i can get on both as they both sound great. I really want an apartment style room so that the girls can get to bed at a reasonable time most nights and we can sit on the balcony and relax.

Just booked Playa Mar. Called Thomson and got a great deal self catering. Rubbish early flight time from Gatwick but I hope the girls think it is an adventure. We will upgrade to AI once there if we need to. So excited. Thanks everyone!

Does anyone remember what time the childrens disco/ entertainment was on? Also, any restaurant recommendations would be great. Thanks

think children's disco was either 6:30 or 7pm.

Restaurants umm there was a lovely one along the pine walk which served freshly caught fish everyday.

Ah thanks. I read that the disco was at 8.15 and that worried me slightly as mine are usually fast asleep by then, although I will be a bit flexible on holiday. Was hoping they had changed the times since then ;-)
