After a good quality, cheapish one - what can you recommend? Ideally not too big.

We paid £50 in Aldi and it does everything you would expect.

Go on EBay and get decent a second hand Panasonic for about £50. I have had a cheap bread maker and then I got a Panasonic from a family member and it’s fantastic and makes bread that is much much better than the cheap one ever did.

The lakeland one is great and reduces to £60 or so at sale time.

I got the Amazon basics one a few months ago and it seems to do the job. 8 or so types of bread. Easy to clean and not too huge either

Panasonic are the indestructible breadmakers. Not the cheapest mind you. I think I paid about £100 over 10 years ago and it's been in use 3 or 4 times a week since then.
