New car - can’t fit all the kids in!

We’ve bought a Renault Kadjar. We have two teenagers 14 & 15 and a 5 year old currently in a Cozy n Safe Hudson fixed by isofix. We can’t fit them all in the back! 🙈 the biggest problem seems to be there’s quite a gap between the car seat and the door. I looked at the Joie Elevate as it’s approved to be used in the middle seat however it seems wider (the side impact wingy bits) than our current one. I’ve been looking at the Britax Romer adventure. The Graco junior maxi seems the slimmest but it’s a which don’t buy so that’s off the cards.

To be honest we are hardly ever all in the car together anymore but we need the option to fit!!

It sounds like you want a high backed booster for the 5yo rather than something with a harness, is that right? You can use any high backed booster without the isofix, so you could put one in the middle seat leaving the sides free for the teens.

Britax Adventure, Britax Kidfix, Maxi Cosi Rodi, Joie Trillo are all slimmer ones but to be honest the deciding factor is often the physical shape of the seats and how they fit with other parts of the car, or how comfortable they are. So a fit test in person is the best idea usually.

If you have a seat with removable side impact bits, those are designed to close space between the edge of the car seat and the door, so you can take them off on the non-door side, or on both sides if the seat is fitted in the middle, or on the door side if there isn't enough room to attach it.

The Graco Junior Maxi has very poor side impact protection but that wouldn't necessarily be a big issue if the seat is fitted in the middle seat.

Try the Besafe izi flex fix. You can take the side wings off if it's in the middle. Very good safety ratings too.
