Ideally looking for a family caravan holiday, anyone got any recommendations of holiday parks in Devon or Cornwall?

Ayr holiday park St Ives.

However if you're wanting a club house and evening entertainment it's not for you but is walking distance to the beaches and town

We stayed at Twitchen House in Woolacombe and loved it

I live in Devon so haven't personally stayed in a caravan park, but I have had many friends stay at Cofton Holidays near Dawlish.

The campsite has a choice of caravans, lodges, cottages & camping.

Dawlish Warren is nearby and is a lovely area with a huge long beach.

It has a good reputation. Have a look at their website.

I'll ask some more friends what they recommend.

I've stayed at park holidays sites, they are cheaper than butlins or haven but still have a pool, kids activities etc. there's quieter sites if you don't want entertainment. My kids loved dawlish in particular

We stayed at Cofton holiday park last year, few gripes but most likely due to the pandemic causing staffing issues/restrictions etc. Would definitely stay again.

I second Woolacombe Bay. Twitchen house is their smaller site, but has a lovely pool and splash pad. Big range of caravans, and they've just taken delivery of some new ones (follow them on Facebook!).

Depends what you are looking for ? How lively / quiet / near beaches etc

Ladies mile in Dawlish is nice, indoor / outdoor pool, club house. But more lively.

Pentewan Sands. You can walk to Mevagissey if you don’t mind a bit of a challenging walk, cycle in the woods, and it’s right on the beach with a Hubbox (the only burgers I will eat). Chippy, pub, clubhouse, tennis courts, boat hire, kids activities, pool.

I'm sorry to say that Twitchen house was the worst holiday park I've ever had the misfortune to visit. Over crowded , cars everywhere , not enough parking and a dirty and chaotic restaurant. Noisy people walking back from the entertainment place every night waking up the whole park. We were there for two weeks and said never again! That was in 2019 so maybe it's improved since or we were just very unlucky.

We were camping in our tent but lots of people there were complaining about their holiday accommodation and the general overcrowding and parking issues.

Woolocombe is fantastic though and made up for the bad holiday park experience. Hire a beach hut for the week and you will have an amazing time.

Haven holidays in Sandy Bay Exmouth is excellent for kids and has a private beach. They have a wildlife centre World of Adventure next door

I agree Woolacombe is lovely, but Ilfracombe we found horrid.

Croyde is lovely. Worth looking at Croyde Bay Holiday Village, they have family hotel rooms and ‘cottages’.

Perran sands In perranporth cornwall is our favourite, it’s on its own beach and walkable to the main perranporth beach. It’s pricy in the summer for a caravan so we usually camp. We ve not been for a couple of years as my two are teens now and don’t need the haven entertainment and facilities that make it an expensive holiday but we love it there. Haven riviera sands further down in Hayle near st Ives is also lovely, smaller and a little cheaper.

Always thought Mother Iveys looks good. Silver sands on the Lizard, and Morthoe caravan park in North Devon are lovely but only facilities are a childrens play area, both are a walk to the sea.

I live in Cornwall so I don’t know much about the parks themselves but I know about the areas.

Are you wanting to stay in the park for most of the time or would you rather there were more things to do around it?

Tal45 - I'm the opposite, loved Ilfracombe and have returned to the area twice but found Woolacombe a bit tacky. Possibly because no dogs allowed on Woolacombe beach so was a flying visit.

I have to say I adore Devon, North and south, it is my happy place.

We camp and try to seek out quieter sites and recommend camping and caravan club sites if you want to avoid overcrowded noisy sites.

We have stayed at the haven site in Exmouth and really liked it, especially the private beach.

Lynmouth and Lynton in North Devon is lovely also.

There is something for everyone really

Yeah but the campsite toilets and showers are the business, and they play pop music into them Smile

I liked Twitchen House, as holiday parks go it was fine, but yes the restaurant was a bit crazy at times! Fantastic walk down to the beach from there as well.

Pentewan Sands would be lovely in a caravan (we took our tent and I didn't like the pitches) close to the beach, has pool and a club house and easy access to local sights.

Another vote for pentewan sands. It’s right on the beach and lots to do locally. We go every year at least once.

Is Dawlish/Dawlish Warren a nice area @Summerhouse1998? Is it local to Torquay / brixham for a day trip?
