Tips on Falmouth

We are going to Falmouth in September, we will be driving.(DH and I in our 60's)
Give me ideas on places to visit. Things to see.
Is the Eden project near and is that worth a day trip.

Eden is nice but not expecially near. If you like Gardens I would highly recommend Trebah which is in Mawnan Smith and close to Falmouth. It’s beautiful.

From Falmouth you have good access to the Lizard Peninsula, and also across the King Harry Ferry to the Roseland Peninsula. Both of which are beautiful.

If you are NT members Glendurgan is another garden option.

@workingfromhomeishell we like walking, mouching around antique shops.
Out of the way pubs for a meal. If there is any markets.
Picnics in gardens.

In town there is Fox Rosehill Garden. Around three miles from Falmouth are a renowned pair of gardens - Glendurgan and Trebah.
You can get boat trips or ‘sea safaris’ from Falmouth.
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is good.
You can walk the coastal path from Gyllyngvase to Swanpool and on to Maenporth and beyond, depending on your level of fitness.
Falmouth has some really good beaches – Castle and Gyllyngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth. They all have their own cafes, Swanpool has a lake behind it and Gyllyngvase has the beautiful Queen Mary Gardens.
Kennall Vale is nice for a walk.
The Helford is just a few miles along the coast. It has a number of lovely little beaches including Polgwidden, Porth Saxon and Helford Passage.
A popular boat trip from Falmouth is up the Fal Estuary to Truro which takes just over an hour and has stunning riverside scenery, or you can go up the Helford River.
Take the ferry across to St Mawes and explore the Roseland Peninsula. Ferries used to run every half hour and take around 20 mins.

Another vote for both Trebah and Glendurgan gardens. Eden is a good hour away - but is a nice day out and worth seeing. Ferry over to St Mawes is so easy from Falmouth and it has a very different flavour. If you like seafood, do try and get booked for The Wheelhouse (or go on waiting list). Restaurant Four is also excellent. Dolly’s Tearoom is also a fab gin bar.
