Haven Holiday parks! Which is best?

Looking to find peoples opinions on the best Haven Holiday park!

Want one with a nice pool, nice place to eat, things to do for young children in the local area and a beach short drive!

We usually go to Lakeland but its getting a bit boring now as not much to do without driving quite far 🤷🏻‍♀️

Unless Craig Tara has changed dramatically in the last ten years, I wouldn't go anywhere near it. Filthy dirty, full of dog shit and fag ends and surly catering staff literally dripping sweat onto the breakfast sausages. Grim.

I went to Craig Tara last sept. Pool gets pretty dirty as the day goes on so go swimming early. And the place is full of chavs (I'm not snobby don't want to offend just being honest and saw the police a few times ) and my newer version deluxe caravan stands of old smoke I could hardly sleep for breathing it in. My friend went to a butlins and said it didn't have loads of things there that was advertised. I don't think I'd return to a haven again. Sorry for putting a downer on it just being honest.

Greenacres is meant to be nice! Hafan y mor has put us off caravan parks completely. The site was like a swamp, the pool was okay but with vile changing rooms but the biggest problem was the horrendous noise at night. Never again!

They closed the pool at Craig Tara while we were there - once because someone had shit in the changing rooms and another time when there was vomit in the pool.

I live near Craig Tara, it was in the local press in the last few weeks for being Ayrshire’s crime capital or something to that effect. 400 police attendances over 3 years.

It depends what your after.

We didn't try Craig Tara for years as people said it was 'rough' however it's way better than any Haven we've ever been too! It has a lot more to do. We've been a few times now and would always pick there.

Haggerston Castle is nice, but not got as much to do. Pool queues were ridiculous. It's got a spa though. And looks a bit 'nicer'.

Primrose Valley in Filey. The swimming pool facilities are fantastic and the beach is beautiful.

We really like green acres, have been to thorpe park the last 2 years and the site is nice but I do t think theres much to do off site

We've been to Craig Tara a few times and never had issues with crime or the pool, although I will admit we don't use the pool that often when we go. We always book directly through Haven, not long after our last trip it hit the news after someone conned a lot of people out of money and some of them finding out they didn't have a holiday when they showed up to the park so I'd always be wary of that sort of thing.

The new complex has a lovely bar area with outside section to sit in as well as the large restaurant/bar that's been there for longer, and the beach is never more than a few minutes walk from the different areas of the park. DC are older now so they like that there are still activities aimed towards their age range although the arcade is definitely where they prefer to go while DH and I sit in the bar next door.

We stayed in chalets. The first one we were taken to had spaghetti thrown up the wall. We requested a change and were given a second floor chalet with no window locks (we were two families with 4 year olds). The carpet was sticky and the bathroom was very dirty. We left it much cleaner than we found it.

Craig Tara is fab (Ayr) we also love seton. Sands, right on the beach but also lots of nice country walks. It's a smaller quiet park though and the pool is small

Yes ,it has changed dramatically. Seton sands has the bonus of being a short bus ride to Edinburgh and has Dunbar pool with wave machine and slide a short drive and many other attractions

Golden Sands in Lincolnshire was probably our favourite. It had an area of funfair type rides on site which most Havens don’t. It also had a nice soft play a bit bigger than most.

The beach at Mablethorpe just opposite was beautiful plus good seaside attractions in Mablethorpe and a little train drove across the sand back to the holiday park which the kids loved.

I took my kids to hopton for years and my sister still goes there every summer so I recommend that one.

I spent most my childhood at Weymouth Bay, my grandpa had a caravan there. I've recently gone back with my own little family and it was just as magical, even DH agreed despite being against the idea originally.

I wouldn't say it's a short bus ride really. Took around an hour each way when we did it and the bus can be very busy. We used the park and ride at Wallyford and got the train which felt quicker.

If you want to stay in the north, greenacres is lovely. But you can’t beat Cornwall (if you can face the drive). There’s so much to do there - it knocks the socks off anywhere else imo.

Devon Cliffs was fab. Lots to do and right on a beach. I’d definitely go back.

@QuestionableMouse I suppose it's relative. It's short if you are spending an entire day out in the capital.... compared to the time and cost of trying to drive in and get parked as the route has bus lanes and a single fare is only £1.70. Yes the park and ride is absolutely an option too, some people might want a wine with lunch etc while on holiday and the bus goes right to the park entrance which is why I mentioned it.

Devon cliffs is my favourite. Not stayed in all hallows but visited nearby and echo pp in saying avoid! Rockley park was ok but not much of a beach

I get that but if I got on the bus expecting a short trip (which to me is 10-15 minutes) and it took an hour or more I'd be a bit cross 😂😂😂

@QuestionableMouse I doubt anyone expects a haven resort with in 10 minutes of the centre of one of the world's main tourist cities. I live here, it generally takes me 10 minutes to get from one traffic light to the next 15 meters down the road 😆
