Travelodge Covent Garden, Premier inn and we recently stayed in the YHA Oxford Street, behind Liberty which was surprisingly really good, self catering or meals provided and they have family rooms.

We've stayed in the Ibis Budget in Whitechapel for £100 for two nights. It's basic but clean and close to a tube station. We've booked a PI hub in Westminster next month for 2 nights including breakfast for £180

Thanks everyone, we thought we had decided on staying in Greenwich Novotel, but have settled on Premier Inn Borough Market, with breakfast elsewhere as the food reviews are bad.

its £231 for 3 nights.

Gosh Alpaca Columbia Hotel brings back memories for me. It was where I stayed on my first trip overseas from Australia. Good to see they’ve updated it a bit since I stayed there! It certainly was budget then. As you say, great area though and brlliant with the proximity to Hyde a Park and the interesting area to just walk around and explore.

Good call on breakfast, there are often better and cheaper places for breakfast than London hotels. My fave is Jack’s on the Junction, just round the corner from the Clapham Travelodge.

I don’t think you can go wrong with a Premier Inn personally. I’ve stayed in loads of four and five star hotels and honestly enjoy Premier Inn just as much. Clean, comfortable, drinks and food easily available, efficient and speedy check in and out. Premier Inn Bankside is an excellent location.

Premier Inn South Kensington Earls Court should come in budget, including breakfast & WiFi. Walking distance to Natural History Museum, V&A & Science Museum.

You can get river boat tickets with Tesco vouchers if you have those.

Go to Maria's cafe in Borough Market for breakfast, or any number of nice cafes along Borough High Street.

Lol @bluetongue we had a right laugh when we stayed there... The room was on a tilt so bad that the wardrobe door swung open if we didn't put a suitcase in front of it, and if one was sitting on the toilet you had a lovely view into the bathroom of the room opposite! As the only female with three men (oooer missus!) I was the first one to spot that...
However, the staff were lovely, the room was clean and it was cheap so we didn't mind!
Apols for the trip down memory lane hijack ;)
