As the title says I'm thinking dd would like a coding toy for Christmas but haven't a clue where to begin. Any recommendations please? Thanks

Have you considered a raspberry pi? It's a computer, rather than a toy, but there are games on it to teach children how to code in python

This isn't out yet but might be my Christmas. It's a card game that teaches coding basics

No idea how to do links (sorry!) but we've got this: <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/d/c4n/Learning-Resources-Code-GoTM-Robot-Mouse-Activity/B01A5YMCH4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502866722&sr=8-2&keywords=Robot%20mouse&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">//www.amazon.co.uk/d/c4n/Learning-Resources-Code-GoTM-Robot-Mouse-Activity/B01A5YMCH4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502866722&sr=8-2&keywords=Robot%20mouse&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

It's been a real hit with my 6 year old. Raspberry Pi is great too.

If you have an iPad try Osmo, mine love it!

I've got the coding mouse mentioned above for my 6yo. Not used it yet but it looks good.

She also enjoys the app lightbot if you have a tablet she can access.

The Robot Turtles board game is fab. You can change the difficulty as you play, so it's got longevity.
