Zwilling Enfinigy Toaster
  • Ease of use: 4.5/5

  • Toasting performance: 4.5/5

  • Ease of cleaning: 5/5

  • Design: 5/5

  • Value for money: 4/5

With sleek, modern looks and a minimalist design, the Zwilling Enfinigy is a very chic toaster. It's not all style over substance though; this is a robust, hard-wearing gadget, and if the five-year warranty is anything to go by, it'll last for years to come.

When I tested the Zwilling out, I loved its range of settings and ease of use. There are seven browning levels and three extra settings: reheat, defrost and bagel, all of which worked brilliantly. The only thing I felt it was missing was a lift-and-look function.

I was mostly impressed with the toasting performance; it handled standard loaves really well, producing evenly browned slices, though it was a little trickier to get the right browning setting for crumpets and homemade ciabatta. That being said, the only major downside is the price, but I think it offers good value for money when you break it down on a cost-per-year basis.

How easy was the Zwilling Enfinigy 2 Slot Toaster to set up?

Very easy. Once I'd unboxed it, it just needed to be run empty at the highest browning level twice, which is pretty standard with brand new toasters. Then, it was all ready to go.

How easy was the Zwilling Enfinigy Toaster to use?

I found the Zwilling an utter joy to use. The instructions were clear and simple to follow, and it was easy to get to grips with the controls.

The dial allows you to select your browning level between one to seven - however, as with any new toaster, it did take some experimentation to find the right setting for different slice types! When you've selected the browning level, it's simply a case of sliding the lever down to commence toasting.

The three functions were easy to use, too; the reheat, bagel and defrost buttons are depicted with a clear, intuitive icon, and they just need to be pressed to select which setting you want. I tried every function and found they all performed well.

I loved the subtle cancel button, which is the Zwilling logo on the the browning level dial. While it's not clear it's a cancel button immediately, I liked this from a design perspective, and with a gently push, the toasting stopped, and the bread was lifted up to retrieve.

My only gripe in this area was that there's no lift-and-look feature to take a peek on how brown your bread is mid-cycle. This would have been handy to lower the risk of burning toast and is also something I would expect to see at this price point.

How does Zwilling Enfinigy 2 Slot Toaster perform?

Overall, I was impressed with the results from the Zwilling Enfinigy. It did take a bit of trial and error to find the right setting for different bread types, but browning was fairly even when I'd mastered this.

For me, '5' was the ideal setting for a supermarket loaf of wholemeal bread, and this produced perfectly even browning on both sides of the slice. However, I did find other bread types like ciabatta had less consistent browning, but standard slices worked fine.

The Zwilling could easily fit normal wholemeal, white, and sourdough slices of bread, but it did struggle with lengthy homemade slices. Luckily, the brand also offers a long slot version for £119 if baking is your thing.

Zwilling Enfinigy Toaster: design and style

Zwilling Enfinigy Toaster

Style is the area where the Zwilling Enfinigy undoubtedly gets top marks. With a sleek matte black exterior and a classy minimalist design, it's one of the best looking modern-style toasters I've tested out. It also has a relatively small footprint too, especially when compared to a four-slice toaster, and it nestled neatly into my kitchen next to my kettle.

I also loved that the Zwilling logo/cancel button lights up when in use - it's a very nice touch which adds to this toaster's thoughtful design.

How easy is the Zwilling Enfinigy 2 Slice Toaster to clean?

Zwilling Enfinigy 2 Slice Toaster

Thanks to the removable crumb tray, this toaster was very simple to clean. The tray just needed a slight push in to release it, then it slid out easily so I could discard any crumbs in the kitchen bin.

Price: does the Zwilling Enfinigy Toaster offer value for money?

The Zwilling has a high price tag, and you can certainly get cheaper models that will do just as good a job at serving you up a slice of evenly browned hot toast, ready to be slathered in butter.

That being said, the Enfinigy felt robust and well-built, and I can see it lasting for years, which is reinforced by the impressive five-year guarantee. With longevity in mind, I think it offers great value for money, though I would have liked it to include a lift-and-look feature at this price.
