How we tested

Our parent-tester Suzanne put the Morphy Richards 333030 Easy Steam Generator Iron through its paces in her family home, ironing for her family of three. She took detailed notes on the iron's quality, effectiveness and user-friendliness, as well as how easy it was to store and keep clean.

Morphy Richards 333030 Easy Steam Generator Iron: our verdict

While the iron took a little time to set up and start using, once it gets going, it's very effective. With a respectable 200g/minute steam shot and 120g/minute continuous steam output, it'll cut down on your ironing time and smooth even the toughest creases with ease.

If you're considering buying a steam generator iron for the first time, it's worth noting that their water tanks make them considerably bigger than a normal steam iron. Suzanne found the size of the iron and its water tank to be a major drawback, taking up a lot more space than her previous Breville Diva steam iron. While the iron itself is compact, the water tank does need to be kept close at hand - on a sideboard or table - while using the iron.

With its great price and trusted brand, we think the 333030 East Steam Generator Iron makes a great investment that'll save you time and effort.

How easy is the Morphy Richards 333030 Easy Steam Generator Iron to set up and start using?

Setting up and getting started with this iron was relatively easy, with clear instructions provided in the manual. One small issue was that the diagrams were not side by side with the written instructions, so Suzanne had to keep flicking back and forth.

Once set up, the simple controls are easy to operate and getting the most out of this iron is a breeze.

What's the Morphy Richards 333030 Easy Steam Generator Iron like to use day-to-day?

While the size and set-up of a steam generator iron is different to that of a traditional steam iron, once you get the hang of it, you'll notice the difference it makes to the speed and efficiency with which you power through your ironing pile.

When used on crumpled clothes, the Morphy Richards 333030 is very effective, making light work of even the heaviest creases. It's the powerful steam function that makes all the difference, and although this iron doesn't have as intense a steam shot as more expensive irons (like the Philips PerfectCare Elite with its 500g/minute steam shot), its continuous output of 120g/minute is up there with the best on the market.

Does the Morphy Richards 333030 Easy Steam Generator Iron offer good value for money?

At £100 at the time of writing (usually £140), the Morphy Richards 333030 Easy Steam Generator Iron is a real bargain when compared to steam generators which can go for two or three times its price.

Sure, you can get our best traditional steam iron, the Russell Hobbs Power Steam Ultra for under £40, but investing in a steam generator model will take your ironing to the next level, while saving you time and energy. The Morphy Richards 333030 is a great value steam generator iron from a brand Mumsnet users swear by.
