Levoit Classic LTF-F362-WUK Tower Fan: our verdict

Quiet, slim and lightweight, the Levoit Classic LTF-F362-WUK Tower Fan is ideal to sit in the corner of your room, cooling the space up to 7m with its powerful VortexAir duct system.

At just 20dB on its lowest setting, this is a seriously quiet fan. For context, a whisper is around 25dB, so when this fan is on low, it produces a gentle breeze and you almost wouldn't know it was there. It oscillates from side to side utterly silently, too. You might think there's a danger of forgetting to turn such a quiet device off, but it has an auto mode that'll shut off when the temperature in your room drops below a certain level, ensuring it's only on when it's needed.

As with all tower fans, it has a tall, slim design that takes up no more space on the floor than a small dinnerplate. Pop it in the corner of your study, living room or bedroom and it'll discreetly blast cooling air around the room.

While it's very lightweight, I did find the shape quite awkward to pick up and move from room to room. Without a stem or handle to easily grab hold of, it needed both my hands to manoeuvre it around.

I'm prone to losing remote controls, so I really liked the clever little space Levoit have built into the back of the fan to slot the remote control into. The buttons on the remote are clear and straightforward to use, and there are also controls on the top of the fan, should you prefer.

The fan has 12 speeds to choose from, so you can get the air flow just how you like it. You can either have it fixed and blowing air forwards, or oscillating side to side to disperse air throughout the room. It can't oscillate up and down, and doesn't blow air out of the top few inches of the tower, so its breeze doesn't quite hit your face, even when sitting down.

I loved the auto and night modes, which use smart technology to adapt to the room temperature. The fan does beep when you turn it on and adjust the settings, but the noise can be easily turned off on the remote control for even more peace and quiet.

What's the Levoit Classic LTF-F362-WUK Tower Fan like to use day-to-day?

The fan couldn't be easier to set up and start using - there's a twist mechanism to fix the base to the tower, with no tools required to assemble it. Once that was done, I plugged it in and was ready to go.

The weather has been pretty changeable - as it always is in the UK - so I've appreciated the auto mode, ensuring the fan only comes on when the room goes above a certain temperature.

It's definitely quiet enough to have on in our bedroom while we're sleeping, and disperses the air really effectively around the room. At full power, it delivers an intense jet of air that'll cool you down in a hurry.

In contrast to its extremely quiet operation, I found the beeps of this fan quite shrill, and was glad to find the sound off button quickly after encountering them.

When compared to a pedestal fan like the Meaco Sefte, I found the Levoit Classic LTF-F362-WUK to be marginally quieter, but less efficient at circulating air around the whole room. While tower fans have a sleek and discreet design, they're more limited in their movements than a pedestal fan, which can oscillate both side to side and up and down.

With 12 speeds to choose from, the range of speeds is about average for a fan in this price range, and I found it was enough variation to adapt to different temperatures and levels of stuffiness. You can spend a bit more on something like the Duux Whisper Flex Smart, to get more fan speeds and app compatibility, but I found the Levoit had all the features I needed in a fan.

Does the Levoit Classic LTF-F362-WUK Tower Fan offer good value for money?

At £86, this fan is around the middle of the market, price-wise. You can get cheaper tower fans, like the basic Igenix DF0030 Oscillating Tower Fan (£33), or you could splash out on a premium model like the Dyson Hot + Cool (£585), which multitasks as a heater and air purifier too.

Levoit is a trusted brand among Mumsnetters, best known for making some of the best air purifiers around, and this is a great quality fan at a reasonable price. If you're looking for a quiet, efficient fan that won't take up too much room and you don't want to pay for added bells and whistles you might not use, the Levoit Classic LTF-F362-WUK Tower Fan could be just the ticket.
