A Montreal restaurant just ranked first among the best places to eat in Canada (again)

The prestigious Canada’s 100 Best ranking is out, and Montreal has a lot to celebrate this year. Not only did a local restaurant rank first in the whole country, but 27 other Montreal restaurants made the cut. The city's dominance in this year’s rankings reinforces its status as a top food destination.

The 100 Best ranking is a definitive guide on where to dine in Canada, based on the complete experience — service, decor, wine selection, and, of course, food. Judges have to vote for at least three restaurants outside their home region, ensuring a fair and thorough assessment.

At the top of the 2024 results is Montreal’s own Vin Mon Lapin — winning the award for a second consecutive year. The Little Italy restaurant that began as a wine bar in 2018 by chef Marc-Olivier Frappier and sommelier Vanya Filipovic has since become a dining hotspot known for inventive farm-to-table dishes and a top-notch wine list.

Mon Lapin has a custom, daily-changing menu, so there's always something new to try. The unusual flavour combinations spark conversation, and the shareable portions make the meal a perfect choice for date night.

Of course, Montreal’s culinary talent doesn’t stop with Mon Lapin. Beba, ranked 8th on the new national list, is known for its creative Argentine-inspired menu. Monarque, at 11th, serves French bistro classics. Montréal Plaza, at 13th, impresses with its eclectic decor and playful dishes.

Other notable mentions include Joe Beef at 41st, famous for its hearty comfort food and Au Pied de Cochon at 51st, known for its indulgent, pork-focused menu. L’Express, at 53rd, remains a timeless Parisian-style favourite.
