Meet the globetrotting dogs who've ticked off an impressive 21 European destinations, including a magical visit to Santa in Lapland, snapping pics at the Eiffel Tower, and wandering the historic streets of Tallinn.

Their owner, Nikki O Carroll, 33, welcomed the two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Coco and Jono, into her life back in December 2019. Since then, she's whisked them away to countries far and wide, from Luxembourg to Andorra and even Liechtenstein.

Nikki and her other half, Robbie Memery, 37, who works as a head of sales, are always on the move with their furry friends, choosing ferries or flights to hop across Europe.

For Nikki, leaving her beloved spaniels behind while jet-setting is simply not an option; she'd never dream of dumping them with relatives or in a kennel. Come April 2024, the canine crew grew by one more with the arrival of Gigi, another Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, now part of their international escapades.

Dublin-based teacher Nikki shared: "I love being with the dogs so much, at home we spend every waking minute with them." She added, "If we go to a restaurant, they will come with us."

Emphasising the importance of her pets, she said: "Pets are part of the family, I wouldn't leave my kids at home. They are only here for a short amount of time so I don't want to leave them out." She also mentioned: "People think it is so difficult but it is actually so easy to take your animal on holiday."

The trickiest bit, according to Nikki, is "researching the vet for treatment when you bring your animal back to the UK or Ireland." Coco and Jono embarked on their first adventure in February 2020, setting off to Scotland.

Nikki and Robbie's love for adventure saw them whisk their furry friends away on a ferry to explore the Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands, bedding down in new spots each night.

The wanderlust-stricken pair then expanded their horizons, embarking on an epic road trip with their pooches through Luxembourg, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

Nikki shared: "We were at home with them for so long that they became attached. We also didn't want to leave them behind if we knew we could bring them. The first trip we did post lockdown was to Wales and then we decided to take then abroad."

"We drove across the UK to the Eurotunnel to Luxembourg, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Switzerland. They loved it are now on 21 countries." April 2023 marked Coco and Jono's inaugural flight as they jetted off to the Baltic states.

All that was required before takeoff was a €70 (£59.08) pet passport for each dog, allowing them to cozy up in the cabin alongside Nikki and Robbie. Nikki recounted: "We got a ferry to Amsterdam, flew to Estonia, got a train from there to Latvia and from there to Lithuania and then back to Amsterdam."

"At the time we flew with Air Baltic who allowed 12 kg bags in the cabin. Coco and Jono were able to sit with us in their travel bag. It was a seamless process."

According to Nikki, trotting the globe with dogs is far simpler than one might think, with just a pet passport and a rabies jab needed every three years.

Nikki explains that all dog owners need to do is ensure their pooch has a tape worm vaccine before jetting off to the UK and Ireland. She shared: "Your EU pet passport is a one-off document that you can use for a lifetime."

"It is a little trickier for people in the UK now due to Brexit, we're luckily in Ireland, we can use the passport and it is no problem," she said. "When we travel from Ireland we don't need to visit a vet but we do for when we're coming home. The hardest part of taking them on holiday is finding a vet to give them the jab when we come home."

The globetrotting duo Coco and Jono have ticked off an impressive list of countries including Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Spain.
