There's a major shake-up coming to TVs across the UK that will leave millions of homes without access to five big channels. The changes are due to Channel 4 shutting down its Box Music platforms which have all been available for a number of years. One of those services being taken off the air is The Box - a channel that has been broadcasting music entertainment since 1992.

The other four channels disappearing from screens include Magic, Kerrang, 4Music and Kiss. These services all broadcast a range of music throughout the day and night including the latest hip-hop tracks, pop songs, rock legends and classic tracks from the past.

As well as Freeview users losing out, Sky and Virgin Media TV customers will also see the music stations disappearing from screens within the next few weeks.

In fact, Channel 4 has confirmed to the team at Cordbusters that viewers will no longer be able to tune in from July 1.

These aren't the only music platforms that are being sent to the history books with another swathe of recent closures meaning UK homes can also no longer listen to stations such as Absolute Radio, Greatest Hits Radio, Hits Radio, Kerrang! Radio, KISS Fresh, KISSTORY and Magic Radio.

It seems customers simply aren't using their TVs to listen to music which makes running the channels unsustainable.

“As we announced earlier this year as part of Channel 4’s digital-first Fast Forward strategy, we will be closing our Box network of channels from 1 July across all platforms – as they are no longer of sufficient scale to deliver meaningful return on investment," Channel 4 told Cordbusters.

“Our strategy reflects the generational shift in TV viewing and involves reducing costs – particularly in linear activities – to allow us to invest in digital priorities and stay competitive in a world of global entertainment conglomerates and social media giants.”

If you love watching any of Channel 4's music services then you have a few left before they will be taken off air.
