Feel the Force in the Jersey Stakes.

TASK FORCE (4.25) has a great chance of capping a superb Royal Ascot for trainer Ralph Beckett in this Group 3 contest.

He was too fresh when finishing only seventh behind Notable Speech and Rosallion in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket but that was at a time when Beckett’s team were badly needing their first run of the season.

His juvenile form from last year gives him a great chance. He finished ahead of River Tiber when runner-up behind Vandeek in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes over 6f at Newmarket in October.

This 7f trip could be perfect. Have 1pt each-way at 11-1. Sky Bet is paying out on five places.

All the pace in the Wokingham Stakes seems to be drawn on the far side.

They are sure to go flat out and that will suit GLENFINNAN (5.05). He won over 1m when trained by Andrew Balding but he’s been a bit too keen for his own good in 6f sprints since switching to Michael Dods.

It didn’t stop him winning over this track and trip in May – his second course victory from three visits to Ascot – when he beat subsequent Buckingham Palace Stakes runner-up Billyjoh.

He failed to run to that level at Hamilton a couple of weeks ago but he just didn’t get the strong pace he needs when third behind all-the-way winner Manila Scouse.

There’s unlikely to be any issue with the early gallop in this race. Have 3pts each-way at 33-1. Most bookies are going six places but Sky Bet is offering a whopping eight.

The Hardwicke Stakes looks a tricky race with the hot favourite, Continuous, having his first run since finishing fifth behind Ace Impact in the Arc de Triomphe.

Aidan O’Brien’s St Leger winner could be a class apart but he likes to be held up off the pace and there’s a fair chance this Group 2 won’t be run to suit his style.

CANDLEFORD (3.05) could easily get his own way out in front and he has the fast ground in his favour.

He won the competitive Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes by six lengths at this meeting two years ago and he looked better than ever when making a successful return to action at the Curragh last month. Have 1pt each-way at 20-1.
