Ageing is an inevitable part of living, but if you're self-conscious about skin that may be sagging, a doctor has shared her top tips that may help to restore skin tightness.

Sagging skin can happen anywhere on the body, and of course, you shouldn't let beauty standards get you down and make you feel you have to look a certain way. Sagging skin is natural, and occurs when collagen and elastin deteriorate in the dermis - however, if you want to tighten your skin, Dr Sana Sadiq, facial aesthetics doctor at Beyond Medispa has shared natural methods to do so.

Dr Sadiq told The Sun that eating the correct fats can help your skin. It's important that you choose good quality whole milk, full-fat yoghurts, and grass-fed butter when you're in the supermarket.

Cooking with coconut oil can also help you to experience less inflammation within the body. According to Healthline, the benefits of coconut oil include "antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, improved skin and oral health, and weight loss potential".

She also shared that doing water workouts can help with sagging too. We all know that exercise is good for our bodies and minds, but some more high-impact ways of exercising can affect the skin. Taking care of your bones and muscles by exercising in water works wonders for the skin, as does weight-bearing activities as these can prevent muscle deterioration too.

According to the British Heart Foundation, in-water workouts are great because they give "a good cardiovascular workout, gently increasing your pulse and breathing rate, so it's great for helping to improve your heart health". It also "strengthens and tones muscles - the resistance of the water means that opposing muscle groups are worked in each movement as you push and pull against it."

Dr Sadiq also shared that eating stew and jelly is handy for health, as gelatin helps produce collagen, and contains amino acids. If you're looking for healthy recipes to try, why not slow-cook cheap cuts of red meat in a stew, and then use any leftover bones to make your very own stock? It will taste divine, and you can rest easy knowing that it's doing you good too. Dr Sadiq also said that you can treat yourself to jelly once a week, as it can help with skin.
