Tesco shoppers have just days left to cash in their Reward Clubcard vouchers before they expire this week.

The supermarket chain warned last month that almost £20million Reward Partner codes are due to expire very soon. Tesco has urged loyalty card members to check whether vouchers are due to expire in the next few days.

After you have collected Clubcard points you can turn them into vouchers and you can use these to get a bit of money off your food shop or when filling up your car. You can also swap vouchers for money off your Tesco mobile bill. However, the main warning comes with the vouchers which have been redeemed with Tesco's Rewards partners.

Tesco currently has over 100 Reward Partners including Disney+, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Pizza Express, Legoland, Hotels.com, and Zizzi. To redeem your Clubcard points with partners, you have to turn them into vouchers, and then into Partner Reward codes. If you choose to use them for a Rewards Partner, you get double the value of your points, so 500 points would be worth £5 in-store but £10 when spent with a Rewards Partner.

Currently, you have six months to use your Partner codes but before June 2023, you had one year to redeem them. At the same time, the supermarket chain also changed how much the points were worth when redeemed with a partner. Before June 2023, points redeemed with partners used to be worth triple their face value.

When Tesco announced the change last year, it said any codes redeemed before the June 13 deadline would be valid for a year, instead of six months. That means anyone who requested the codes before this deadline has until Thursday (June 13) to redeem them and some customers could potentially have vouchers worth triple the original value.

Tesco said that there are £20million worth of codes which have been requested but not redeemed. Tesco has emailed customers urging them to check to see if any of their vouchers or reward codes are set to expire.

How do I get Tesco Clubcard vouchers?

Clubcard members can build up points when they shop at Tesco and there is a range of ways you can do this. You get:

  • One Clubcard point for every £1 spent in stores and online
  • One point for every two litres of fuel bought from Tesco forecourts
  • One point for every £1 spent on Tesco Mobile
  • One point for every £4 spent on a Tesco credit card, and
  • One point for every £1 spent using a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card

Once you have collected enough Clubcard points, you can then convert them into vouchers. The minimum number of points you need is 150 - which will give you a voucher of £1.50. Once you have converted your points to vouchers they last for two years. Under the rules, you can't collect Clubcard points on tobacco or tobacco-related products, lottery, stamps, prescription medicines, infant formula milk, Tesco gift cards, third party gift cards, saving stamps, in-store concessions, Paypoint payments or purchases of some Tesco Bank products.
