There's nothing more soul-crushing than the moment your car decides it won't start.

Whether it's weather related or an underlying issue with your vehicle, often the first thing you do is call your local garage. But according to one TikTok user, there's no need to dash off to the repair shop so quickly as you can fix it yourself.

When it comes to motoring mishaps, social media user @masterdriver_666 knows a thing or two about solving problems on your own. The motoring guru has garnered 745,600 followers thanks to her useful tips and tricks. And her latest video certainly helped drivers.

In a recent clip, she showed what you should do if your car won't start. She claimed it can often happen when the car is too hot as the problem might be related to the temperature of the engine. But in this case, the water temperature sensor isn't the issue, it's another part.

She said: "A water temperature sensor controls the amount of fuel injection according to the temperature of the engine. If there is a problem with it, the car won't start but this water temperature sensor is new, it's obvious the car owner has already replaced this part.

"So I guess it's not the problem here. I suddenly remembered there's another part that's broken, it will also cause the car to have this problem and most repair shops will ignore it. It's called the intake air temperature sensor. "

In the clip, the user demonstrated an easy method to take the part out by unplugging it from the car. Once she did that, she noticed a lot of dirt was surrounding the sensor. To solve, she explained: "Find a bottle of detergent and clean it off, it can be found for cheap. Then use a paper and wipe it clean.

"Now it looks like new you can plug it back in using the same method. Once you've got everything in, you can start the car and it works. Success!" Since she shared the video, it racked up 1,500 likes and dozens of comments.
