Tristan Thompson's desperate attempt to win 'best friend' Khloe Kardashian back

Tristan Thompson gushed over his ex Khloe Kardashian on her 40th birthday.

Taking to Instagram, the basketball star praised the mother of his kids for being the "best mom" and his "best friend" as he shared a number of images of the family looking close. Tristan and Khloe share two kids together, but split up after the athlete cheated on the reality star and fathered another child with another woman.

His fourth post saw Tristan also heap the praise on Khloe for being "the most incredible human being I've ever met" as he shared a snap of her cuddling into his brother who Khloe helps care for.

Fans weren't all happy with the post, though, with some still seemingly reeling over Tristan's infidelity. One Twitter/X user wrote: "Tristan Thompson saying Khloe is his best friend," alongside a sting of crying with laughter emojis.

Earlier this month Khloe hit back at trolls who criticised her for maintaining a close relationship with her cheating ex-boyfriend. In a candid confessional on her family's hit reality show, Khloe stated: "I feel like everyone has been really judgy about how I spend my time because I'm not dating, because I stopped dating Tristan when Tatum was in utero, so I don't know, two and a half years or something of not dating is not that crazy."

In 2022, Khloe broke down in tears on The Kardashians as she discussed the "difficult time" in the aftermath of the cheating discovery. The betrayal came as the pair were ready to welcome their second child.

Khloe and Tristan began dating in 2016, while his ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig was pregnant with his son Prince. Tristan and Khloe, who split following Tristan's baby scandal, later welcomed their second child together via surrogate.

Members of Khloe's family also paid tribute to her on her milestone birthday on Thursday. Kim also labelled Khloe her best friend. The SKIMS founder wrote on social media: "Welcome to the f***ing 40 club baby!!!!!'

"I feel like you have been waiting for years to finally be done with your 30's and the time has now come. I know this will be the best decade of your life filled with so much love and happiness! I'm so excited for you to experience this because I know how good it is, and no one deserves this more than you!"

She concluded: "What a crazy life we live! I couldn't do it without you by my side! Thanks for being the best friend and sister a girl could ever dream of. Happy Birthday."
