Coronation Street is stealing from EastEnders once again - this time taking from the rival soap’s script rather than talent base.

In an upcoming episode, Peter Barlow will be seen ordering former landlord Steve McDonald to “get out my pub!” - a line made famous by Peggy Mitchell, the former landlady of Albert Square's Queen Vic.

The scene will be based in Corrie ’s iconic public house, the Rovers Return Inn, and may prompt a few soap fans to scratch their chins.

“Corrie has cheekily made the line its own by giving it northern welly,” a source told The Sun.

“It sounds quite different because of the Manchester accent but it will ring a bell with fans . . . and will definitely ruffle feathers in the Beeb script-writing room,” the source added.

The line in question has been immortalised on BBC One’s EastEnders by Barbara Windsor whose character Peggy Mitchell would frequently yell “get out my pub!” at her rivals.

Another favourite line of Peggy’s was “drinks are on the house!” whenever she was feeling in a particularly celebratory mood.

Corrie has been known to take the same creative directions as EastEnders from time-to-time - having hired iconic Albert Square stars after they quit the BBC soap.

Michelle Collins played Cindy Beale on EastEnders between 1988 and 1998 before playing landlady Stella Price on the cobbles between 2011 and 2014.

However many Corrie stars have gone on to feature in EastEnders - including Jill Halfpenny who featured on Corrie from 1999 to 2000 and then in EastEnders between 2002 and 2005.
