The Archives of Michigan is responsible for preserving the records of Michigan government and other public institutions. The collections also include documents, maps, photographs and film from private individuals and organizations.

There is no fee or admission charge for entering the Archives of Michigan. Please stop at the museum admissions desk on your way in to let them know you are visiting the archives. The staff will be glad to direct you to the reading room.
Collections at the Archives of Michigan include probate files, naturalization records, tax rolls, cemetery transcripts, local histories, circuit court case files, prison registries and other helpful records. Providing access to the public is a core function of the Archives of Michigan.
