Intelligent control methodologies and artificial intelligence (AI) are important for the efficient management of energy storage systems, especially those using superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES). AI algorithms enable SMES units to optimize operations in real-time, maximizing energy efficiency. This paper introduces DynamoMan, an ANN-tuned Fractional Order PID Brain Emotional Learning-Based Intelligent Controller (ANN-FOPID-BELBIC) for SMES systems. ANN tuning optimizes the reward/penalty generator settings of BELBIC, enhancing its efficacy. Integrated into the SMES control system, DynamoMan outperforms BELBIC, PID, PI, and P models, demonstrating superior robustness, control attributes, and reduced settling time. View this paper
