Cover Story (view full-size image): Understanding global evapotranspiration (ET) data is essential for advancing agricultural water management and gaining insights into hydrology and the natural environment. This study assesses the Global Change Observation Mission-Climate (GCOM-C) ETindex algorithm’s performance to estimate actual evapotranspiration (ETa) in Southeastern Afghanistan using Landsat 8 satellite imagery. For the time period of November 2016 to October 2017, the algorithm's performance was compared with other ETa estimation models like METRIC, MOD16, SEBS, and FAO-56 for various land use types. The results showed a strong correlation with METRIC and FAO-56, highlighting the algorithm's accuracy and potential for improving regional hydrology insights. View this paper
