Lipid metabolism is influenced by genetics, age, lifestyle, and disease conditions. This study investigated the association of dietary patterns and serum lipidomics in 396 participants from a Mediterranean area (type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes; non-diabetics). Using UHPLC/MS, lipid species were analyzed according to dietary patterns with linear regression. Acylcarnitines and triglycerides showed negative associations with healthy eating patterns in all subjects. The interaction between lipidomics and diet showed that lysophosphatidylcholines and phosphatidylcholines were positively correlated with healthy diet in subjects with and without type 2 diabetes, and a negative correlation in subjects with type 1 diabetes.
