Cover Story (view full-size image): Parkinson’s disease (PD), one of the main neurological disorders associated with Lewy bodies and the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc), continues to pose significant challenges in the field of neurology. The underlying mechanisms of PD are unclear, but oxidative stress and antioxidant imbalance play a crucial role in the onset and progression of this disorder. In this context, compounds like Vitamin E, Creatine, CoQ10, MitoQ, Quercetin and bioactive molecules have been described as novel therapeutic strategies to prevent and treat the condition. These compounds often have antioxidant properties, which can help mitigate the oxidative stress associated with PD. View this paper
